During Reading

Pay attention to text organization – chronological order, problem/solution, cause/effect, etc.

Pay attention to main ideas and details of the book, the chapter, the page, the paragraph.

Pay attention to how each chapter connects to larger topic of the book.

Pay attention to the main events and the causes and effects of those events.

Note Taking:

-Create questions which elicit critical thinking, not 1 word answers
-Write questions directly across from the answers in your notes
-Leave a space or draw a pencil line separating questions
