Dear Peer Reviewer,
On behalf of the Certification Commission, I want to express our deep gratitude for the commitment you have made to the renewal of certification process. Your participation as a peer reviewer is a valuable contribution to the quality of Chaplaincy.
As a reminder, a Peer Reviewer must be an active or retired certified NACC Chaplain or CPE Supervisor who is a current member of the NACC with whom there is not a reporting relationship and who is not an Inactive or Emeritus member of the NACC. (CP225)
Before you begin the peer review process, we ask that you take some time to review the template peer review form below. This instructional sheet outlines the content which is expected in each section of the peer review form. As a reminder the Peer Review Form must be electronically produced (computer or typewriter) and please note that handwritten forms will not be accepted. I. Process of Peer Review:Process section should:
Indicatehow peer reviewer became involved in chaplain’s peer review
Timing/method of receipt of materials to review
Indicate how interview began and progressed
Indicate any concerns re: misunderstandings, tension, time/balance, congruence between materials and person
II. Content of Peer Review:
Content section should address the following:
Meaning and effectiveness of the continuing education and activities for the chaplain
An update regarding the chaplain’s development in:
-Theory of Pastoral Care
-Identity and Conduct
-Pastoral Skills
-Professional Skills
Progress on recommendations made to the chaplain during the previous interview or peer review
Discussion of the chaplain’s plans for future development
III. Recommendations for Growth/Continuing Education for the next five years:
Recommendation section should flow from the process and content of the peer review. Recommendations should relate to NACC Certification Standards and the chaplain’s plans for maintaining and enhancing competencies. Please include a minimum of two recommendations.

Instructions to Peer Reviewer
Please refer to the Certification Procedures Manual for specific instructions on the components of the Peer Review. As a reminder, a Peer Reviewer must be an active or retired certified NACC Chaplain or CPE Supervisor who is a current member of the NACC with whom there is not a reporting relationship and who is not an Inactive or Emeritus member of the NACC.Once this form has been completed, sign the form and return it to the applicant so that he/she can sign it and forward all the materials to the NACC National Office.
