OCTOBER 2011 NEWSLETTER

WELCOME BACK TO SKATING!

AGM Meeting : Thursday, Oct.13th

Time : 5:45 pm

Very Important! Please send a representative from each family. There will be important information at the meeting and we will be confirming our Executive Team. We have incumbents in place who are willing to stand however any members wishing to join the executive may put their names forward at the AGM. We are also proposing updating our Club Bylaws as per Skate Canada Regulations. A copy of the previous Bylaws and the revised Bylaws will be posted on the OSC bulletin board and the website prior to the AGM. Please take an opportunity to review. We need to read and approve the new bylaws at the AGM.

FUNDRAISING

Raffle Tickets: lots available please contact Laurie Haggart to purchase raffle tickets - $50 per book - 50% profit to the club

Santa's Little Helpers : Deadline is October 25 Please submit your orders to Kim Andruchow - 45% profit to the club

English Bay Cookie Dough : Coming in November – orders will be collected by Shantel Foster – 40% profit to the club

Skate-A-Thon – We will be holding a skate-a-thon in the new year – 100% profit to the club

AGLC GAIN COURSE

On November 21, 2011 AGLC is offering a free GAIN Course at the Onoway Museum. This session provides information for Charitable Groups use and reporting of gaming proceeds. This course is valuable for anyone involved with non-profit organizations that work Bingos, Casinos or sell raffle tickets and 50/50 draws. Laurie Haggart will be attending this course if anyone else is interested please contact Laurie and we will sign you up.

HELMET POLICY

All PreBeginner and CanSkate 1-5 Skaters are required to wear a CSA Approved Helmet on the ice at all times as per SkateCanada Policy. See Policy posted on Bulletin Board for more info.

WEATHER POLICY

If busses in the Onoway School District do not run due to adverse weather conditions, skating lessons will be cancelled. Please call an executive if you have any questions regarding the weather as individual phone calls will not be made.

HOLIDAY POLICY

There will be regular skating lessons on PD Days and Teachers Convention Days that fall on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
