Whistler Youth Foundation Grants Program 2013

Mission Statement

The Community Foundation of Whistler’s Whistler Youth Foundation is dedicated to supporting youth oriented programs through grants and volunteerism. The Whistler Youth Foundation Fund supports projects that benefit youth. Grants between $500 and $1000 will be awarded for projects that either benefit youth or are conducted by youth.

Eligibility

Applicants for funds must have Canadian charitable status or be partnered with a registered charity through a formal project sponsorship agreement. The sponsor must be willing to assume the legal and financial responsibility for the project. Please contact us for a sponsorship agreement form.

Grants are not made to individuals or businesses.

Please note that the CFOW does not fund:

  • Operational or core expenses of applicant organization
  • Retroactive funding
  • Office equipment or furniture
  • Activities for direct religious purposes
  • Sabbatical leaves, student exchanges
  • Medical equipment
  • Amateur sports teams or sports clubs
  • General fundraising campaigns

Guiding Principles

  • Significant and appropriate support from other sources (including the community) should be evident
  • The organization should demonstrate inclusiveness and respect for diversity
  • Ideally youth will be involved in planning and implementation of the project

Community Foundation of Whistler Granting Policies:

  • Grants are awarded for definite purposes and projects covering a specific period of time.
  • Applications are considered from organizations that demonstrate a strong and committed board, financial responsibility, and sound management practices.
  • Grants are provided for up to 50% of a project budget.
  • Projects and programs should be inclusive of the community at large.

After a grant has been awarded

Community Foundation of Whistler’s Whistler Youth Foundation expects the following from the grant recipients:

  • Approval prior to any alteration in plan
  • Grant will be used in the way stated in the application
  • Well planned project evaluation
  • Interim and/or final reports (both financial and descriptive)
  • Public recognition of the support received from Community Foundation if Whistler’s Whistler Youth Foundation
  • The Whistler Youth Foundation appreciates the opportunity to make site visits, if time and location permits.
