Sing! Sing a song! A Bioenerg Song!

Your assignment! Take the concept of photosynthesis orcellular respiration and create a song! Yes! Create and sing a song! Here are some suggestions that may help you…

  1. Be sure you have content! Even though you are creating a song, the lyrics you write have to demonstrate your understanding of photosynthesis or cellular respiration. In addition to that, it has to be correct!
  2. Minimum requirement…at least 3 verses and a chorus.
  3. Don’t make it too long! Practice! How does it sound?
  4. Pick the right song! You hear Simon say it on American Idol all the time. Same applies here.
  5. Slow songs tend to be tougher. Faster songs seem to be more enjoyable and songs that are more like talking than singing work best.
  6. How do you know if it’s the right song? Sing it to someone! How did it feel singing it? Did they enjoy it. Did they want you to sing more or couldn’t wait for you to be finished.
  7. How do I start? 2 ways! Use a song already made or create one yourself!
  8. If you pick a song already made…
  9. Get the lyrics.
  10. Copy & paste the lyrics into a word document. Double space it so you can write the lyrics directly above.
  11. Practice!!
  12. If you create your own song…I will be amazed!
  13. Lyrics on the screen! Your lyrics needs to be seen on the overhead projector screen while you are singing. Your fellow classmates need to be able to read the lyrics to your song while your are singing. You can use word, PowerPoint or even create a webpage. If you create a music video, the lyrics needs to be in the video like closed caption.

So, you’ve written the lyrics to a song, now what? Well… you have just received a “C” grade for this assignment. Want to get full credit? Guess what! You’re going to have to perform it! You can perform it live or create a music video. On ______, time will be set aside for each group to “sing” their newly composed song! Bring your instruments, your prerecorded instrumental song or your music video and let’s sing!
