ABSTRACT:

Good health is important in everybody’s life. Jogging is the best exercise for body fitness. But in this competitive world and busy schedule human can not spare his time for jogging. Jogger Bench is the best solution for this and it can be used any where. A person needs not to run any far places for jogging. This system can be used in homes, offices and parks for jogging. Various parameters like total distance traveled and speed can be monitored on LCD. The user can increase and decrease the speed of the motor. This system can be implemented at low cost.

This system uses a DC motor. The speed of this motor is varied using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technique. The system is provided with two push-to-on switches, one for incrementing the speed of the motor and the second is for decrementing the speed of the motor. This system can be operated at five different levels if motor speed. LEDs are provided for visual indication of the speed of the motor. Modulating (varying) the ON/OFF pulses (voltages) width which are applied to the DC motor is called “Pulse Width Modulation”. These pulses are provided from 89S52 micro controller in this project.

One more important feature of this project is “safety of the jogger (user). One safety tag is provided in this project. The user should clip this tag to his hand (or clothes) and the second end should be inserted into the slot provided. This slot consists of LDR & LED combination.Whenever the jogger fell down from the jogger bench the motor will stop running automatically. (Since the safety tag is also removed from the slot along with the jogger). And buzzer is also switched ON to alert the surrounding people for help. This project can be used in all applications which require variable speeds of DC motor.

This project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac out put of secondary of 230/12V step down transformer.
