Peer Evaluation Guide and Form

Evaluate your team members’ contribution to each of the following areas. Also, record how much that person was assigned. This two step process will be used to identify groups that need more help with organization versus student who are not pulling their own weight.

Be sure that for each design area, the total ‘Assigned work’ is 100% spread among all team members. Also the amount of ‘Completed work’ needs to be 100% spread among all members.

You have the possibility of getting full points by turning in an evaluation form. Your actual score is dictated by the feedback your other group members have about your performance.

Design Area Descriptions:

Technical Design: Development of schematics, drawings, and designs. Can include system level decisions and local (block) level decisions

Component Research: Investigation of what components to use, Example systems that could be utilized, Locating sources for components

Customer Relations: Contacting mentor or instructor

Webpage/Documentation: Authoring or reviewing of written materials, Webpage design or maintenance

Project Management: Task assignment, scheduling, encouragement, etc

In the notes section, please try to identify what specifically were the person’s responsibilities. Also include any short comments. For longer comments, please feel free to write in the Comments area at the end. Please print out your evaluation and comments, and turn them into Don Heer’s mailbox in KEC1148 by the due date. Please do not include the examples in your submission.
Examples of Completed Forms

Example One:

Your project has four people and five easily discernable circuits to be designed. Additionally you need a couple people to track down parts, one person to stay in contact with the mentor, a webmaster, a recording secretary to keep meeting notes, and a project manager to monitor progress and possibly reassign tasks.

A student should only loose points if it’s the general consensus of the group that one person is not completing what they were assigned.

Example Two:

In this group, the project manager isn’t doing their job, no one is talking to the mentor, and one person isn’t completing their technical design requirements. It is also troubling that one student hasn’t been assigned enough work. This wouldn’t result in a grade reduction, but the instructor and TA would want to discuss this with you’re team.
