Strategic Plan Part II – Environmental Analysis and Setting Strategic Goals

On January 1, 1998, The New York Hospital announced that it will be merging with The Presbyterian Hospital to create New York Presbyterian Hospital. In this extraordinary event, two world class academic healthcare institutions combined to create the largest and most comprehensive hospital in New York, with over 13,000 employees and 2,200 patient beds (New York Presbyterian,2017).This result is has improved the quality of healthcare that are provided to patients, and improved the accessibility of clinical services to accommodate the expansion within the population at lowered costs and ongoing improved efficiencies.

New York Presbyterian is one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic health care delivery systems. The organization is dedicated to providing the highest quality, most compassionate care to patients in the New York metropolitan area and throughout the world (New York Presbyterian,2017). In collaborating with the two of the most prominent medical schools, Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. New York Presbyterian is constantly recognized as a leader in medical education, ground-breaking research and innovative, patient-centered clinical care (New York Presbyterian,2017).

According to New York Presbyterian, 2017, NYP is currently divided into four major has four major divisions, this includes;

·  New York Presbyterian Hospital - a world-class academic medical center ranked #1 in the New York metropolitan area by U.S. News and World Report.

·  New York Presbyterian Regional Hospital Network- comprised of leading regional hospitals in the New York metropolitan region.

·  New York Presbyterian Physician Services- This connects medical experts with patients in their communities to expand coordinated health care delivery across the region. It includes the New York Presbyterian Medical Groups which are throughout the New York metropolitan area.

·  New York Presbyterian Community and Population Health - encompassing ambulatory care network sites and community health care initiatives, including New York Quality Care, the Accountable Care Organization jointly established by New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell, and Columbia.

​New York Presbyterian is one of the largest healthcare providers in the U.S. Nearly 29,000 New York Presbyterian professionals extend exceptional care to over 2 million patients and counting (New York Presbyterian,2017).

Based on your SWOT analysis, provide an assessment of your chosen organization in which you include the following:

The organization’s ability to accomplish its mission, goals, and objectives as set in previous strategic plans

The organization’s ability to respond to internal and external changes and challenges

Incorporate your SWOT analysis findings into clearly stated goals and objectives for a 3- to 5-year period, focusing on your strategic plan areas.

You will have two to three goals for each year, with two to three measurable objectives for each goal.

Goals may span several years.

Outline your goals and objectives clearly and provide a narrative explanation for each.
