To ensure that you get many years of enjoyment from this product, please read the following instructions carefully, and keep in a safe place for future reference.

/ WARNING!The Bergman Electric Weeding Machine is designed exclusively to eliminate weeds between paving stones, on paved areas, in masonry, flowerbeds and lawns during the growing season.
Before using your Bergman Electric Weeding Machine for the first time, please take the time to read these instructions carefullyand familiarise yourself with all its functions.
- Check that the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine is compatible with the power supply and that the available voltage does not exceed the voltage. (See ‘Technical Specifications’page 3 in this manual.)
- Do not operate this appliance if the power cord or plug is damaged. If the power cord or plug is damaged, please contact a qualified person to carry out repairs.
- Never leave the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine unattended.
- Always unplug the unit when it is not in use.
- The Bergman Electric Weeding Machine heats up during use. Never touch the nozzle or heat shield while in use. Always allow the applianceto cool down for 30 minutes. Please note: some parts of the weeding machine get extremely hot, even after short use.
- Do not operate the weeding machine after a malfunction, or after if it has been dropped or damaged in any way.
- Never touch the power cord or plug with wet hands.
- Never use the appliance with wet hands.
- Never use the weeding machine in wet weather.
- To avoid electrocution do not expose to dripping or splashing liquids.
- Do not place any heavy objects, or any containers filled with liquid on top of the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine.
- Do not operate the weeding machine if you are ill, feeling unwell, or tired.
- Do not operate this appliance while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicines.
- Do not use near flammable products or in an explosive atmosphere. Remember: Heat can set fire to flammable products even when they are not in sight. Only use in properly ventilated areas.
- Never block the air intake.
- Keep away from dust and extreme temperatures.
- Do not use the weeding machine as a heat source in your house or for melting ice and snow.
- Never aim the burner head directly at humans or animals.
- Always wear appropriate footwear and gloves when using the weeding machine.
- The Bergman Electric Weeding Machine is intended for outdoor, domestic use only. It should not be used for indoor or commercial applications.
- This appliance is not a toy. Keep out of reach of children.
- The Bergman Electric Weeding Machine should not be used by anyone with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, unless they have been given supervision or instruction on how to use it safely.
- Do not open the cover on the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine. Touching live wires can cause life-threatening electric shocks. Always have the appliance repaired by qualified personnel.
- The Bergman Electric Weeding Machine contains no user serviceable parts. All repairs must be carried out by a qualified person. Improper repairs may place the user at risk of harm, and will invalidate any guarantee.
- Only use the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine for its intended purpose. Using the appliance for anything other than its intended use will void the warranty.
- Any damage caused by disregardingthe guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

How to operate
- Plug the appliance to the mains outlet.
- Switch the appliance on at the ON/OFF button (c).
- The heating element (e) will immediately start heating up
- Within seconds the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine is ready to use.
- Simply hold the heating element (e) over the weed for a couple of seconds.
Please note: The weed only needs to be heated. Burning is not necessary. The heat dries out the cells in the leaves and the weed subsequently dies.
IMPORTANT!
- The best time to treat weeds is in the spring.
- Dry woods, leaves, pine needles and dry grasses can catch fire. Always be vigilant for some time after treatment.
- Results are not always visible immediately.
- Older plants with hard leaves, such as thistles can require repeated treatment at intervals of one to two weeks.
- Some types of grasses are extremely robust and require longer exposure to heat.
- Certain weed species require repeated treatment.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Always disconnect the mains powerbefore undertaking any cleaning or maintenance.
After every use
- Allow the Bergman Electric Weeding Machine to cool down.Remember: some parts of the weeding machine get extremely hot, even after short use.
- When cool, and if required, wipe the appliance with a dry, lint-free cloth or a brush.
- Never immerse the appliance in any liquid.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
