College Application Checklist

_____ Create Common Application account – www.commonapp.org (Record username and password on back of this sheet.)

_____ Match Common Application Account to Naviance

_____ Upload schools that take the Common App to your Common App account

_____ Add Schools not on the Common Application directly to Naviance “Schools I am

Applying to” list

_____ Ask teachers personally to write letter of recommendation

_____ Invite teacher electronically to upload recommendation through Naviance

_____ Update/Complete Autobiographic Statement in Naviance (if necessary)

_____ Review each school on Common App account to determine if a supplement is required.

_____ Complete Common App (and supplements as required) so that each section has a green check indicating successful completion.

_____ Confirm deadlines for each college via the colleges’ websites. You are responsible for all deadlines!!

_____ Pick up Transcript Request Form in House Office and complete all sections. (Remember early action/decision schools will be done on a different timeline and on a different request form than regular decision schools)

_____ Turn in completed transcript request form to the Administrative Assistant in your house office at least 10 school days PRIOR to when you would like it sent.

_____ Send test scores to colleges electronically through www.collegeboard.org or www.act.org. * Remember, all schools do not require test scores-check individual application requirements on school’s website).

_____ Complete and send applications to all schools. Confirm deadlines!

Once everything above is completed, your teacher recommendations, counselor recommendation, transcript, and school profile will be sent from the school. You are responsible for sending the College Application and Test Scores to your colleges.

_____ Review and complete FAFSA online www.fafsa.ed.gov after October 1st . This form is required by all colleges

______Check individual school information to see if they also require additional financial aid info through the CSS Profile https://student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile. This can be started in October.
