Report of the Ministry for Labour, Youth Development and Sports September 2002-July 2003
May-June 2003:
At HQ Offices, The Ministry distrubuted funds for National Youth Revolving funds to all 119 district of Tanzania Mainland and 10 district in Tanzania Zanzibar.
Participation: Various Stake holders youth men and women and women included in the process.
The obejectives of the event is to encourage self employment among young men and women, to increase entreprenuership skills among young people.
Outcome: Many young people involved in economic activities, reduction of income poverty and employment creation among young people.
Future Actitivity.
More involvement of stakeholders in capacity building for young people.

Reviewing of National Youth Policy
Theme: Youth Economic Empowerment
The Ministry of Labour, Youth Developments and Sports reviwed the Youth Development Policy in order to make sure that among other things the youth economic and employment aspect is well acticulated.
Participation: Various Youth Organisations, NGOs, Government Institutions, Experts in Policy issues.
Outcome: The worshop come up with a policy document that can easily lead to the sustainable strategy and programmes.

SADC Employment and Labour Sector Committee of Ministers and Social Partners (TRIPARTITE) Annual Meeting
Activities: Discussing various aspects in relation to the employers, workers and government perception with the aim of having a sustainable working conditions among SADC countries. The issue raised included youth employment and the Presisent of Rebuplic of Tanzania endorsed the Six Es at the Conference.
Outcome: The Ministry of Labour Youth Development and sports was able to make sure that the YES aspect was full covered during that emportant regional meeting.
June 2003 at Njuweni Conference in coast Region
Activities: Life skills education for young people.
Participation: Young people from three regions of the East Zone Coast, Morogoro and Tanga.
Theme: To incerease knowlwdge among the NGOs/CBOs/Youth group Leaders in the following areas; leadership, entrepreneurship, HIV/AIDS and how to handle meeting/conferences.
Future: Evaluation for participation, Establishment of DATA-COPE Network in Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Coast Peer Educations Net Work as a Nion Governmental Organisation.
Extending the knowledge of other groups of young people.
May 4-9, 2003 at Moshi Cooperative College Conference.
Activities: The National Youth Conference for young people under the life skills Net Work.
Participation: UNICEF Experts in various young people’s skills.
300 young people, NGOs and Councils working with UNICEF and Media Organisations.
Theme: Involvement and/or participation of youth people in development aspects; HIV/AIDS threats to young people; formation bodies for young people and How youth protected by laws.
FUTURE: To involve more young people in various forum expectialy from rural areas.
October 8-14, 2002 National Youth Week was held at Tangamano Grounds and Mkwakwani Stadium.
Activities: Life Skills education, Youth Products Exbition, voluntary test of HIV/AIDS, Symposium and various entretainment
Participation: Various youth organisation, more that 20,000 individuala people were attending daily; Decision and Policy Makers; Various International Organisation (UNICEF, UNFPA,UNDP); and National top leaders.
Outcome: promoting youth people’s talents, products and ideas; creating voluntary spirit among young people, exchange of ideas and skills among youth peole.
Future: To increase the activities entails in National week; to expand the scope of participation (including the participants from outside the country.
June 7- October 14, 2002 Uhuru Torch Race (Freedom Torch) was has been run to all 123 districts of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Activities: To disemminate HIV/AIDS message, to promote sensus, to distribute various leaf lets, bronchures, text books, banners etc.
Laying foundation and launching 1555 various projects worths Tsh. 29,186,386,981.
Outcome: Good turn-up of census, good turn-up of participation during the youth week. Many people received the message of HIV/AIDS; increased of volunterism spirit among youth people.
Participation: Uhuru Torch race leads by youth over the country. This emourage young people to hold leadership position.
August 2003
The YES programme have been introduced to the government planning in order to facilitate the performance to be made by the YES leadership.
March 2003 Training Course for youth leaders at Ilonga Youth Traning Centre.
Participation: Two leaders from each youth group based in Morogoto, Dar es Salaam and Coast Regions.
Theme: Group Management
Outcome: Thirty two young people were trained in Group leadership.
Future: To increase the number of groups trained in other centres od Sasanda and Marangu.
December 12 - 22 December 2002 in all Dar es Salaam Districts youth offices conducted meetings with various informal youth group in the streets i.e street youths.
Activities: Discussing various issues concerening youth, collecting various information such as activities, location, numbers of youth and their opinion.
To facilitate the street youth to engage in productive and legal activities as opposed to drug abuse, robberly ect.
Participation: Local government/community in the grassroots levers; the officials from the Ministry of Labour, Youth Development and Sports.
Outcome: Changing of attitudes among young people, there is an increase numbers of youth economic groups; Some of the youth are in the process of registring thier groups.
Future: Expansion of this program to cover more region. Follow up of the groups and youth insited.
Reduce of HIV/AIDS spread and drug abuse.
February 14 2003 at Ministry of LYDS, the permanent Secretary was signed the contract between Canada World Youth and YES - Tanzania to establish exchange program which will comence on August this year.
MLYDS with collaboration with YES Committee launced YES Campaign at National Level.
Report from YES Tanzania Southern Highland Zone
YES Tanzania Southern Highland Zone includes three regions which are Mbeya, Iringa and Rukwa.
Southern Highland Zone represented with the following youth NGO’s
1. Mbozi Youth Development Association (Mbozi-YODEA) based in Mbeya
2. Rungwe Youth Development Association based in Mbeya
3. Rukwa Youth Development Association based in Rukwa
4. Youth Against Povert Organisation based in Iringa
5. Programme Association Tanzania (PATA) based in Mbeya.
Environmental Economic Activities:
Iringa Region: Timber and Forest products, Tea Plantations, Fishing, Maize farm and livestock.
Mbeya Region: Coffee farming, Maize farming, Parethreme, Rice, Tea Palantation, Fishing and Livestock.
Rukwa: Maize farm, Forest Products, Tourism , Livestock.

Promoting YES in the respective region and their districts zone’s.
Mobilese youth in Economic ventures/activities particulaly in agriculture, farming, cattle farming etc.

Outcome:
Promoting Unity and Partnership among youth NGOS in Southern Zone.
Five youth NGOs have become representatives of Southern Highloand at YES Tanzania chapter.
The NGOs have to a link to reach unrechable youth groups at grassroot level.
To establish close relationship with other organisations from different part of Tanzania.
To promote and strengthen youth activities inside and outside of Tanzania.
These NGOs have become a frontain for economic and social development.
Future Plan:
To Represent the Southern Highzone at national and international forums.
To increase and/or enlarge the job opportunity in the zone
To strengthen youth in economic activities by initiating capital skills, education and leadership.
To increase awareness on various issues related to YES Tanzania and worldwide.

YES Country Networks participated at National Youth week and disseminate various information from YES Conference which held at Alexandria Egypt on September 2002. More than 30,000 people were visited YES booth at Tangamano ground and learn how they can participate in YES global campaign.

TAMEYODA in Collaboration with MLYDS established YES Committee for Canada World Youth Exchange program which involves members from Equal Opportunity for All Trust Fund (EOTF); Zanzibar Youth Education and Environmental Development Support (ZAYEDESA), UVIKIUTA, 4H-Tanzania, Youth Advisory Development Council (YADEC), VIBINDO Sociaty, Youth Alive, Kumekucha Youth Group, Youth Women Development Association (YOWODA), Tanzania Media and Youth Development Association (TAMEYODA) Youth and Parent Association, Stone town Youth Association, Zanzibar Youth Development Association, EMAU Association and both Youth Development Department in Tanzania Zanzibar and Mainland.

YES - CWY Committee met at Ministry of Labour, Youth Development and Sports Conrefence room and discussed how Tanzania can participate in Canada World Youth Program.
Vice President of Canada World Youth, Mr. John Cawley visited YES County Network and signed the YES- CWY exchange program contract.

YES Tanzania Participating on SADC Reginal Support Plan in Youth Employment Needs Analyisis Plan which condacted by Youth Development Network based in South Africa.
YES Country Network arranged Medical Examination for 12 youths including testing of HIV/AIDS at Regency Hospital in Dar es Salaam.
