Important Information on Enrollment in UT-SPH (3rd in a series)

ORIENTATION ON JANUARY4 - 5, 2012: To view the most current schedule of orientation activities, please visit the website at: Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. Please be prompt. Remember that attendance is mandatory for all degree-seeking students. This includes those who were formerly enrolled in other programs or as non-degree students.

** SCIENTIFIC WRITING WORKSHOP: All degree-seeking incoming students will be required to attend one Scientific Writing for Graduate School Assessment and Workshop. The workshops will be offered during the first 2 weeks of classes in the computer classroom (RAS/E15). Houston sessions will be limited to 20 participants per session. Students are required to be registered for classes prior to attending the workshop since a valid UTSPH ID and password are needed to login on the terminals in the computer classroom. The same login information will also be used to access the UTSPH online learning tool Blackboard (Bb)during the workshop. Following registration and prior to attending the workshop, please check your UT webmail account at: and also your Bb account at: for access. TRANSPORTATION, PARKING, STUDENT LIFE, AND RESOURCES IN HOUSTON: The School of Public Health is located at 1200 Pressler Street in the Texas Medical Center. Directions and maps can be found at Since student parking is very limited, public transportation is recommended to and from the Medical Center. Metro routes and schedules can be found at: The Metro Light Rail TMC Transit Center stop is just a short walk from the School of Public Health. Daily parking within a short walking distance is available at the University Center Tower Garage located at 7000 Fannin, and at the TMC Garage #2, located on Holcombe Blvd. at Bertner Street. There is also visitor and contract parking available at the South Extension Lot located at 1522 S. Braeswood Blvd. and William C. Harvin Blvd. For more information visit: .

The UT Shuttle is available during orientation week for SPH students holding atemporary shuttle permit. Please print the permit and be prepared to show it to the shuttle driver. UNIVERSITY IDBADGES: ID Badges are available following course registration. After you have registered, you can obtain your badge from the Bursar’s Office, located in the University Center Tower (UCT) 2240, at 7000 Fannin Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Please note that there is only one badge machine, so the process can be slow during high traffic-times.
