Unit 3 Objectives
1. Students will illustrate and explain characteristics of biomes and ecosystems on posters using the words tropical rainforest, temperate rainforest, freshwater ecosystems (aphotic zone, photic zone), keystone species, primary disturbances, secondary disturbances, and invasive species.
2. Students will define and describe hardy-weinberg equilibrium theory on assignments and using the wordsexponential growth carrying capacity, density dependent factor, density-independent factor, homozygous allele (p), heterozygous allele (pq), and homozygous recessive allele (q).
3. Students will examinevideo clips of various organisms and infer their adaptations using the words natural selection and genetic diversity.
4. Students will assess populations for characteristics of biodiversity, growth and stability on a lab/tst and graphs and using the words species, adaptations, extinct, keystone species, invasive species, non-native species, exponential growth carrying capacity, density dependent factor.
