The No Ivy League, a program of PortlandParks and Recreation, is working to restore the native habitat of Forest Park and other natural areas. The No Ivy League focuses on removing English ivy and other invasive plants, creating youth development programs, environmental education, and seeking relevant societal changes.

The No Ivy League Summer Youth Crew is a unique opportunity for high school students (ages 14 -18) to give back to their community through a paid summer position. Over the 8weeks of our program,participants work to hone their skill in teamwork, leadership, and stewardship as well as other employability factors. The Crew is charged with documenting restoration they have completed, compiling results, and communicating the hard work they do to the rest of the community.Crew members enjoy their summer outdoors removing English ivy from natural areas around Portland all while working in a diverse, cohesive, and challenging environment.

  • 8:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some optional work on Saturday mornings.
  • $8.40/hour with the potential for increases for returning members in good standing.
  • Season runs from July 6th – August 27th, 2010.
  • The No Ivy League Summer Youth Crew works outdoors in all types of weather.
