U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Obeys and Follows the Burn Bans

There are three types of our burn bans

Red Flag Day (High Winds)

TCEQ Chapter 111, SUBCHAPTER B: OUTDOOR BURNING §111.219. 6B

“Burning shall not be commenced when surface wind speed is predicted to be…greater than 23 mph (20 knots) during the burn period.”

Stage 1

·  No open ground fires allowed.

·  No fires in any fire ring.

·  No fires in open standing grills.

·  Never leave a fire unattended.

·  All fires must be in a grill with a closable lid.

·  Covered grills are not provided at all parks. Call before you come so we can give advice on where you will be camping.

·  Extinguish all fires and hot embers completely with water before going to sleep or when leaving the park.

Stage 2

·  No Fires Allowed!

·  No wood or gas grills allowed.

·  Only electrical grills/hot plates allowed.

·  Never leave a hot surface unattended.

CONSEQUENCES

Failure to comply with any burn ban could result in one or all of the following.

1.  Fines issued from one or more of the following:

·  Comal County Fire Marshall

·  Comal County Sheriffs

·  USACE Park Rangers

2.  Removal from the Park

3.  Incarceration in county jail

IF your negligence causes property damage, injures another person or causes a death, you could also be looking into much more severe consequences.
