1. Course Currency:

1.1.  In the first decade of XXI century, project –oriented methodology is of much interest for companies in Russia and all over the world. Every company needs principles, model and methods for project management competency definition, assessment and development within the framework of organizational project management system.

The course introduces the discussion and definitions of project management competency and provides a detailed description of the key performance and personal competencies applicable to project managers that are recognized as good practice when leading most projects, most of time.

2. Course Targets:

2.1. Learning the skills of assessment and development of project manager competence;

2.2. Discover the structure and content of the key project manager competencies;

2.3. Mastering of basic principles for project management competency model development and implementation in an organization.

4. Course Basic Topics

4.1. Project management competency: definitions, structure, design, assessment, development; alignment with international project management professional standards;

4.2. Key project management performance competencies: initiating a project; planning a project; executing a project; monitoring and controlling a project; closing a project;

4.3. Key project management personal competencies: communicating; leading; managing; cognitive ability; effectiveness; professionalism;

4.4. Developing competence as a project manager: assessment principles; competence development plan.

5. Course Output

Beyond the completion of the Course the graduate must:

5.1.  Have a deep knowledge and understanding of project management competency design, structure, development and implementation;

5.2.  Possess key project management competency assessment skills;

5.3.  Cope to implement the project management competency model at the level of enterprise.

Project Management Competency Development course serves as an introductory course for the Organizational Project Management course in Master’s Program on Project Management.
