GUIDELINES
Overview
Need $$ for a music project?
‘Look North’ Grants are financial support of up to $1000 for musicians living in The Cities of Playford, Salisbury and Port Adelaide Enfield.
What can I spend the money on?
Eligible expenses include activities like studio costs, mixing, mastering, film shoots, publicists, social media setup and promotion, live performance costs.
What can’t I spend the money on?
Ineligible expenses include:
- purchasing equipment
- certificate, degree, or other courses of ongoing study
- activities already supported through ArtsSA’s contemporary music program
Criteria
Applications will be assessed by The Northern Sound System using the following criteria:
- Artistic quality, originality and merit
- Good planning and effective use of resources with realistic outcomes
- Activity that will develop the professional career of the artist/s involved
- The contribution that the 'project' makes to a progressive music scene in South Australia
- The project expenses are for suppliers based in the northern Adelaide region.
How to Apply
- Make a plan for your project
- Download an application form northernsoundsystem.com.au
- Complete the application form. Discuss with NSS project officer.
- Submit your application
If you’re successful…
- A funding contract will be sent to you by ArtsSA. Once signed….
- Your grant money will go into a bank account nominated by you
- You’ll execute your project and spend the money as per your project plan
- Acquit your project.
How to Acquit
Nothing is free. When your project is over you will submit a report on your project outlining how it went, any changes that occurred to the plan and what you’ll do now. Your report must include receipts for your project expenses and an actual budget. (Tip: It’s easier than it sounds!)
Timeline
Apply anytime between Aug 2016 – May 30th 2017. Projects must be completed before Dec 2017.

In December 2015, Adelaide won the prestigious international designation as a UNESCO City of Music. Adelaide joins 115 other cities in 54 countries as part of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network.City of Playford is proud of this designation and would like you to consider how you may recognise this in your project.
Please provide a short description of how your project contributes to Adelaide UNESCO City of Music, and how you will recognise this in your project.
While use of this branding is encouraged to strengthen our identity in this space, whenever the logo is used, it must be approved by Sarah Bleby, Director, Office of Adelaide UNESCO City of Music via email at .
