Call for Presentations and Tutorials

APCERT2008 Conference is calling for Presentations and Tutorials. The conference will be held from 11th March afternoon to 12th March 2008 inHong Kong. Tutorials are organized immediately after the APCERT conference on 13th to 14th March 2008.
Following the APCERT Annual General Meeting in the morning of 11th March 2008, the APCERT Conference will start in the afternoon. The half day session is opened to APCERT members and invited guest. The 12th March conference is full day and is opened to the public. APCERT members, invited guests, government and corporate management of Hong Kong and economies in the Asia Pacific proximity will participate.
The Theme of the APCERT2008 Conference is “Combating Botnets, Emerging Security Threats and Cyber Crime”
Presentation/Tutorial Submission
The programme committee welcomes submissions contributed to the leading development of information security to the conference or workshop. Suggested topics include (but are not limited to):
- Botnet detection and analysis
- Cyber crime development
- Computer and network forensics, and IT security investigations
- Critical information infrastructure protection
- Design, deployment and maintenance of security infrastructure
- Domain hijack and countermeasures
- Hacking techniques and hacker profiling
- Honeynets or honeypots
- Identity theft
- Information management
- Legal and/or ethical issues relating to information security
- Intrusion detection and security monitoring on large networks
- Malware development and analysis
- Mobile and wireless security
- Online social network security
- Phishing and Pharming
- Privacy and information security
- Planning and management of an incident response and security teams
- Security standards implementation
- Trends in computer network attacks and defences
- Underground Economy Disclosure
- VoIP security
- Vulnerability research
- Web application security and Web 2.0 threats
Submissions promoting or demoting specific products or services will not be considered nor accepted.
Presentation summaries should be between 1 to 4 pages - typeset in a 12-point font. A photo (image file) and biodata is also required. Submissions will only be considered if they provide a clear idea of the presentation content, key points to be covered during the presentation and are followed by the PowerPoint presentation at a later date.
Summaries should be submitted in text, PDF or html formats. Submissions will be accepted until the UTC 17:00, 17 Jan 2008. Submission does not guarantee acceptance of presentation or tutorials.
All presentations and tutorial submissions will be handled electronically. Authors should submit their presentation electronically to APCERT Secretariat by email .
Presentation requirements:
Presentations run for 40 minutes, however, we would recommend a 30-35 minute presentation to allow time for questions.
Note that if your presentation is selected you must comply with the following:
- Provide PowerPoint or PDF slides by 14 days prior to the commencement of the conference for inclusion on the conference CDROM in PDF form.
- If PowerPoint or PDF slides are NOT received 14 days prior to the commencement of the conference then the programme committee may decide to replace the presentation with an alternative.
- The nominated speaker of an accepted submission will personally present the presentation at the conference. If for any reason the nominated speaker cannot present, the conference programme committee or the conference organisers must be informed as soon as possible and at least seven days prior to the commencement of the conference. The program committee reserves the right to allocate the presentation slot to another presenter in this event.
APCERT requires a non-exclusive copyright license for all presentations at the conference and for the presentation material. This includes potential distribution on a conference CDROM and the conference website.
Tutorial requirements:
Tutorials may be one day (7 hours) or two days (14 hours) and can cover topics with a business or technical focus. Note that if a tutorial is selected, handout material for distribution to tutorial attendees must be provided at least 14 days prior to the commencement of the conference.
APCERT requires a non-exclusive copyright license for all tutorial handout material for distribution to tutorial attendees.

Presentation and Tutorial Selection:
The APCERT Annual Conference 2008 Program Committee will independently select all topics and speakers based on the quality of presentations and relevance of topics. Acceptance of these submissions is at the discretion of the Program Committee which has the right to refuse any submission. The Program Committee's decisions are final.
