JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:Volunteer & Training Co-ordinator
Hours:37.5 hours per week
Holidays 25 days per year (pro rata)
Reporting to:Corporate Services Manager
Salary:£20,000 - £22,000 (depending on experience)
Aims of the Post:
To be responsible for:
- developing existing and new volunteer roles
- ensuring excellent standards of volunteer recruitment, support and retention across the whole organisation
- management of the volunteer function across the organisation
- co-ordination of the training programme
This post is subject to DBS clearance at enhanced level.
Main tasks
1.Volunteer coordination
1.1take overall responsibility for the coordination of organisational wide volunteer involvement, ensuring that the volunteer policy and procedures are adhered to and reviewed at regular intervals.
1.2work collaboratively with colleagues that have line management responsibility for volunteers within their teams.
1.3maintain and develop existing organisational recruitment, support, training and supervision programme for all volunteers
1.4publicise volunteer opportunities; develop and distribute publicity materials, work with local media, attend meetings and give talks and presentations as appropriate.
1.5produce a volunteer e-bulletin and organise an annual celebration event
1.6ensure that all volunteer database records, resources and information are maintained.
1.7maintain appropriate records, monitoring and evaluating the work and providing information for overarching organisational monitoring reports, as required.
2.Volunteering development
Develop:
2.1an organisational volunteer action plan, identifying gaps and opportunities for the development of new volunteer roles or volunteer based services
2.2new initiatives for volunteer-based roles or services, working with other staff as appropriate. See supporting documentation for current priorities
2.3contact and identify partnership opportunities with other organisations in the field of volunteer support.
3.Training coordination
3.1 Develop our programme of courses/workshops; liaising with external partners as appropriate
3.2 Develop publicity materials and promote courses/workshops eg newsletter, posters, website
3.3Run the training programme: including arrangingdates and venues, arranging volunteers to assist in training courses, calling carers to discuss training and access needs and collecting feedback from participants for monitoring.
3.4 Monitor the training budget on a quarterly basis.
4. General
4.1Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Carers Centre policies and procedures.
4.2Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post, as agreed with your line manager.
4.3 Maintain organisational database.

Duties of all Carers Centre staff are periodically reviewed and may alter in line with service requirements and developments in consultation with staff.
General Requirements
1.Quality
The achievement of quality assurance requires each member of staff to participate and ensure quality is assured in each aspect of their work.
Each member of staff is required to ensure that:
- Their work is discharged correctly first time on each occasion.
- The carer is always put first.
- Staff practise teamwork every day.
- That in all things, the carers’ requirements are met and all staff contribute fully to achieving the Centre’s corporate goals and objectives
2.Confidentiality
Each member of Blackpool Carers Centre staff is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of any information relating to carers, staff and the general public and to comply with all the requirements of the Data Protection Act while carrying out the duties of the post. Any breaches in confidentiality will be dealt with by the BCC Disciplinary Procedure and may result in dismissal.
3.Health and Safety
Each member of Blackpool Carers Centre staff is responsible for ensuring that they carry out the duties of their post in accordance with all appropriate Health and Safety legislation, guidance and procedures and that they do not, by any act or omission on their part, create a threat to the Health and Safety of any other person.
4 External Interests
Each member of Blackpool Carers Centre staff is responsible for ensuring that any external interest they have does not conflict with the duties of their post and they must disclose the external interest if this is likely to occur or if they are in doubt about a possible conflict of interest.
5.Fire Training
Each member of BCC staff has a statutory obligation to attend a fire lecture each year. It is the responsibility of each member of staff to ensure they comply with this legal requirement.
6.Flexibility
Job descriptions are intended to act as a flexible guide to the duties of the post and therefore will require revision in consultation with the post holder to reflect the changing requirements of every post so as to enable Blackpool Carers Centre to achieve its corporate goals and objective
