Prosoft Learning: Certified Internet
Web Professional (CIW) Program / Preparation can be obtained in course sequences in Business and Information Technology. Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies, and Advanced Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies (BUS6630/6632) is a course sequence often used for preparation related to this certification program.

Web Professional (CIW) Program

Industry Certifications / Beginning Level:
·  CIW Associate Certification* (This certification can be achieved with one comprehensive exam (i.e., CIW Foundations Exam), or with the option of achieving CIW Associate Certification by passing the following three separate examinations:
Internet Business Foundations Examination*
Site Development Foundations Examination*
Network Technology Foundations Examination*
*Either the comprehensive CIW Foundations Examination, or any one of the three separate CIW Foundations Examinations, can be used for Virginia student-selected verified credit eligibility.
Mid-Level:
·  CIW Professional Certification (In addition to the CIW Foundations Exam(s), one additional CIW exam is required as candidate must pass a job-role related exam in one of the CIW certification tracks.)
Advanced-Level:
(Virginia CTE Academy Level)
·  Master CIW Designer (Two exams required: Site Designer, E-Commerce Designer)
·  Master CIW Administrator (Three exams required: Server Administrator, Internetworking Professional, Security Professional)
·  Master CIW Enterprise Developer (Six exams required: Web Languages, Application Developer, Java Programming, Object-Oriented Analysis & Design, Database Specialist, Enterprise Specialist)
·  Master CIW Web Site Manager (Three exams required: Server Administrator, Web Languages, Site Designer)
*The CIW Associate Certification must be achieved before other CIW certification exams can be attempted.

Cost

/ Virginia Department of Education—Prosoft Learning state partnership CIW exam prices:
·  Virginia CTE teachers can take one CIW exam free.
·  Student prices: $65.00 for CIW Associate comprehensive exam, or $25.00 for each of three individual exams (optional) that may be used to achieve the CIW Associate Certification.
·  $75.00 for CIW Professional exam.
Exam vouchers for CIW Associate “foundation examinations” must be obtained through Prosoft Learning. Other examinations can be obtained through Prosoft Learning, or an authorized testing entity.
Testing Procedure / A school must register with Prosoft Learning to be recognized as a “CIW Authorized Academic Partner” through the Virginia partnership agreement with Prosoft Learning. The following forms must be submitted to Prosoft Learning: to receive discounts on instructional materials the “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)” form; and, if desiring to give CIW exams onsite via the Internet as a CIW Certified Testing Center, the “Exam Member Benefits (EMB)” form. Forms should be completed and sent to Casey O’Brien (Fax: 602-794-4111). The receipt of forms will trigger a response from Prosoft Learning to send out proctoring information. Each school site must have a CIW certified proctor to deliver tests in the classroom (online via the Internet).
Exams can be taken online at a school site with a validated CIW proctor, or through an authorized testing entity (no partnership exam discounts, etc.). Validated CIW proctors must overview CIW’s proctoring guidelines and pass a proctoring examination. Secondary teachers can become CIW certified proctors; but, if CIW exams are given for verified credit, exams must be given using an observer to provide a “proctored environment.”
