2018 FESTIVAL ON THE RIVERS PAGEANT
RULES AND GUDELINES
March 3, 2018 @ 4:00 p.m.
1. Pageant opened to Geneva City School System and Geneva County School System only. Registration – February 13th – 6:00 -7:00 p.m., at Geneva High School Auditorium.
2. Gifts for participants will be held in a special room until after the pageant then will be given to participants by one of our volunteers.
3. There will be five categories:
Tiny Miss: Kindergarten and 1st grade
Little Miss: 2nd and 3rd grade
Petite Miss 4th and 5th grade
Jr. Miss 6th through 8th grade
Miss 9th through 12th grade
4. If a contestant has previously won a category, she can NOT enter the category again. She will have to wait until she is eligible for the next category.
5. The entry fee for the pageant is $30 (due at registration time). Contestants may enter the photogenic category for $10.
6. Pictures may be black and white or color (NO larger than 8x10 and NO smaller than 5x7), you may enter only one picture.
7. The attire for each category is sportswear (short, sundress, pants, Capri’s, etc.) Contestants outfit will have to be age appropriate (absolutely NO party or provocative dress will be allowed). If you choose to allow your child to wear shorts or sundress they may not be more than three inches above the knee.
8. No props are allowed unless the contestant can wear the prop and does not take off the prop on stage
(hats, scarves, sunglasses, etc.) If you allow your child to wear something of this nature, the pageant committee and workers will not be responsible for these things.
9. Each contestant will be judged in the following categories: (SPORTSWEAR, POISE AND BEAUTY)
10. Contestants will be shown their walk on the first night of practice. Each girl will do the same walk all contestants will have the same amount of time on stage. There will be NO modeling moves allowed. All young ladies are beautiful so we ask for them to all just be themselves and to walk with confidence.
Practice nights: Tuesday, February 20th and Thursday, February 22th for Tiny Miss & Little Miss
Categories only from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Practice nights: Tuesday, February 27th and Thursday, March 1st, for all contestants Tiny Miss, Little Miss, Petite Miss, Jr. Miss and Miss from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
11. Contestants must be at all practices (NO parents will be allowed in the auditorium during practice).
We will have a brief meeting before practice during which time we will answer any question parents may have, (if your question is not answered within these rules & guidelines).
12. The pageant will start on time (4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3rd). We will begin the pageant with the Tiny Miss Division. The order of the pageant will not be reversed or changed. Doors to the auditorium will not be opened until 3:30 p.m. for those attending the pageant.
13. Contestants who wish to have pictures made by the photographer have to be dressed and at the auditorium no later than 2:45 p.m. If, you do not want to have your child’s picture taken, the contestant must be dressed and at the auditorium no later than 3:30.p.m.
14. Mothers and contestants will enter at side door between the auditorium an library. Mothers/hairdressers will need to have your ticket to present at this door before you enter. Only one person (mother or hairdresser) allowed with contestant until 3:45 p.m.
15. All must leave the dressing room by 3:45 p.m. including anyone who is fixing your child’s hair.
***After this time no ONE will be allowed backstage. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULES…….
16. ONLY VOLUNTEERS ARE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE………………………………
17. All contestants are eligible for the Sponsorship Queen Crown & trophy by selling advance tickets and/or receives the most donations for the pageant. The contestant who sells the most tickets or receives the most donations will be awarded the title “River Festival Sponsorship Queen”. (Sponsorship Queen Winner will be any contestant that brings in the most money by selling advance tickets or receiving donations) and an important note****Sponsorship Queen can ride with Festival Queens if they have a float.
18. Tickets will be given on registration night and must be turned in on the last night of practice. No exceptions! YOU will be responsible for turning tickets or money in on the last night of practice. NO ONE can be in the contest if all tickets or money is NOT accounted for by March 1st, 2018
19. Each division will have the following awards: River Festival Queen, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up, Photogenic and Sportswear
20. Contestants will remain backstage for the entire pageant. Chaperones will be in each room and entertainment will be provided for the younger girls.
21. Winners will be announced at the end of the pageant. Parents will not be allowed to pick up the girls until ALL queens have been crowned.
22. No one will be allowed on stage until after the crowning of the queens and adequate pictures have been taken by the photographer and newspaper representative.
23. The River Festival Queens must be able to attend ALL River Festival activities. This includes but NOT limited to: TV appearances, local radio shows, the road race, the parade and all three days of the festival. The Queens will be given an itinerary on the night of the pageant or shortly thereafter.
24. QUEENS and Runners-up are required to ride in parade but they will be responsible for their transportation and signs. (if, they choose to ride together either in a boat or on a float, they will be responsible for this, too)
25. Sponsorship Queen (may ride with Festival Queens) runners-up are invited to ride in the parade also, but each will be responsible for their own transportation and signs.
26. If, you hold another title and win River Festival title, you must attend all River Festival events as the River Festival Queen ONLY!!!
27. We do ask that winners wear crowns and banners at all River Festival Events.
28. No score sheet will be given out the night of the pageant. If you wish to receive your child’s score sheet, please pay $5 on registration night and bring a self-address stamped envelope at the final practice, to receive the score sheet.
29. RULES & GUIDELINES are necessary & important for all concerned. They will be enforced. It is MANDATORY the festival queen will have to attend all functions. If, you do not abide by the rules & guidelines you will have to relinquish your title. Another important rule: a contestant who acts in a manner that is rude or disrespectable of other contestants will automatically be disqualified & will not be eligible for crown, runner-up or any award that she is awarded.
30. No refunds will be given…No Exceptions!
JUDGES WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THESE RULES! – JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
