Date / Thursday, April 29 – Saturday, May 1, 2010Event Brief / Spring for Alexandria is a three-day celebration of giving and service in Alexandria, Virginia. Now in its third year, Spring for Alexandria is jointly hosted by ACT for Alexandria, the City of Alexandria, and Volunteer Alexandria. Spring for Alexandria brings together more than 2,000 community members, including businesses, nonprofit organizations, Alexandria City Public Schools and City government to support Alexandria-based charities.

- Featuring the presentation of the Legacy of GivingAward honoring personal and family philanthropy. Previous recipients of the Legacy of Giving Award include the Simpson Family and the Lindsay Family. .

- Featuring the presentation of the Business Philanthropist of the Year and Nonnprofit Leader of the Year Awards. Keynote speakers have included General Colin Powell, USA (Ret.), SunTrust Bank CEO Scott Wilfong, and Senator Mark Warner.

- More than 1,000 volunteers and business teams will donate some 10,000 service hours on nearly 100 nonprofit sites throughout the City of Alexandria.
- Spring for Alexandria volunteers convene at Market Square at the conclusion of the day to celebrate and receive congratulations and thanks from Mayor Euille, sponsors, Alexandria nonprofits and others.
Presented by the Alexandria Jaycees
- Alexandrians are invited to clear out their cupboards and their closets and contribute to our neighbors in need. Volunteers from Alexandria charities will be onsite collecting food, clothing and supplies.
- Run by kids, for kids; Kids Helping Kids raises funds for Alexandria-based, child-focused charities one glass of lemonade at a time.
Sponsorship / Spring for Alexandria sponsorships are available at $15,000 and $10,000. Benefits packages include recognition at all above-listed events. Individual event sponsorships are available at $6,000, $3,500 and $1,000. Additional sponsorship opportunities are also available.
