JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE : Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) Casual Coach
RATE OF PAY:£7 per hour
LOCATION:Swansea and Neath Port Talbot (various venues)
HOURS OF WORK:Weekly hours as and when required
RESPONSIBLE TO :Premier League 4Sort (PL4S) Co-ordinator
CRIMINAL RECORDS BUREAU VETTING: This post, due to its nature, duties and responsibilities will be subject to a check by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). The level of check which will apply shall be an “Enhanced Disclosure”.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To deliver sport sessions to young people throughout Swansea and the surrounding areas as part of the Premier League 4 Sport (PL4S) programme. The PL4S programme uses the brand of Swansea City AFC and the Premier League to encourage more young people to try different sports. The three target sports for Swansea areHockey, Table Tennis and Tennis. Sessions are open to those aged 14-19, generally free and are delivered in a more relaxed style to traditional sport clubs so as to encourage thoseless active and not already involved in sport to get involved.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
•To plan, organise and deliver a varied and interesting programme of sport, which motivates and encourages young people to participate. Coaches will also ensure that coaching sessions are suitably developed for all ability levels.
•To encourage and engage the development needs of the individual through guided practice and participation, setting tasks that are increasingly challenging to their knowledge, skill, attitude and application.
•To complete risk assessments and ensure that reasonable steps have been taken to protect participants at all times, as well as immediately reporting all accidents or injuries to the PL4S co-ordinator and complete report forms as required
•To supply, assemble and dismantle equipment when required and to check the safety of all equipment and ensure it is used in a safe and proper manner. At the end of each activity, ensure that all equipment is stored correctly.
•Work within the good practice guidelines for health and safety and safeguarding in line with Swansea City Community Trusts’ policies, procedures and coaches code of conduct. Be professional at all times in terms of both image and actions - to wear the correct clothing and being aware of appearance and personal hygiene.
•Monitor and Evaluate work at all times collecting comments, registers, case studies and evidence of good practice, submitting regular reports as required by the Premier League.
•Work with key stakeholders to develop good relationships including head teachers, heads of PE, other teaching and non-teaching school staff, the hub club coaches, committee and parents / carers.
•To ensure you are registered / licensed with the sports NGB and coaching qualifications are maintained. To assist with the provision of the training, development and mentoring of colleagues and young leaders as required
This Job Description will be reviewed regularly. You may be required to undertake other tasks that can be reasonable assigned to you, which are within your capability by the Community Manager.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES
The successful candidate will:
Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of coaching young people in a sports/activity setting
Have the ability to engage with young people from all backgrounds
Hold at least one Level 1 coaching qualification (Holding a coaching qualification in the target sports is desirable but not essential)
Be available to work between the hours of 10:00 -19:00
Hold a full UK driver’s license and have access to their own transportation
Have the passion and ability to utilise the brand name of Swansea City to engage young people using the power of sport.
Knowledge of safety requirements and child protection issues
Good communication skills

•All interviews will be held at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea week commencing Monday 10th of November. As part of the interview candidates may be asked to deliver a sport session to a group of young people to assess their suitability for the role.
