Communication is key to your child’s success at school. I will keep you informed of your child’s progress in class in various ways…

1) You can access grades anytime on Infinite Campus. Contact Greg Konda at the high school to set up your account if you haven’t already. It is a way for you to stay updated on your child’s grades/assignments as I update it daily.

2) Your child has access to his/her grade “24/7/365” through the Infinite Campus Portal as well.

3) Grades are sent from the office occasionally and reflect what is on IC.

4) I contribute articles to our school website and our city newspaper.

5) I will inform you of positive things that your child does in the classroom on an individual basis.

I would hope that you would contact me as well, whether through e-mail, phone calls, or conferences. Occasionally e-mails go through our junk mail if your address is not recognized, so if I don’t respond to you in a timely fashion, please call because I may not have gotten the message.

Math Curriculum

The math curriculum at the middle school is two-fold: with both a standards-based program, Mathematics In Context, and a traditional text, Holt Mathematics.Students are given real world problems where math facts and concepts are embedded in problem solving skills and later reinforced through traditional practice.

Each book is focused on the Kansas College and Career Ready Standards. The texts are designed for students to discover and use the mathematics that is applicable to everyday jobs and activities using the 8 mathematical practices.

Students will rely on group participation, individual accountability and their problem-solving methods in order to succeed in the classroom as well as in the future.
