Rams Football Camp

Financial Assistance Policy

The Rams Football Club provides financial aid to cover up to 50% of the annual football camp for a limited number of high school students with a proven need. The number of students who can be supported is determined by the club’s yearly budget and the success of its fundraisers. The proof of financial need follows the City of Rockville Recreational Department’s guidelines and requires one or more of the following documents:

  • Award letter from Maryland Dept. of Human Resources/Montgomery Co. Dept. of Social Services verifying eligibility for Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), Food Stamps, Medical Assistance and/or Transitional Emergency Medical and Housing Assistance (TEMHA). The letter must indicate eligibility period and names of household members receiving benefits. (We do not accept Medicaid cards, FARM cards or Care for Kids.)
  • Proof participant resides in a shelter: Letter from shelter dated within a month of application and, if applicable, listing dependents living at shelter.
  • Proof of Rental Assistance: Public Housing, HUD Section 8 Housing, HOC (MPDU not accepted for applicants purchasing a home). This must be a current document from the agency providing assistance which names the eligible tenants.
  • Supplemental Security Income - Document must be dated within one year of application.

Financial aid is granted to qualified students on a first come/first serve basis. Applications must be accompanied by the appropriate documentationand submitted to the head coach no later than the third Thursday of the month preceding the football camp.

If granted financial aid, the following commitments must be met by the family:

  • The student must commit to being an active participant of the football team for the season following the camp.
  • The family of the student receiving assistance, must commit to volunteer at least 10 hours with the Rams Football Club for one or more of the following functions:
  • Preparation, serving or cleanup of player meals.
  • Planning and participation with fundraisers.
  • Working at the snack bar during varsity or junior varsity football games.
  • Assisting with game day setup and cleanup.
  • Being a member of the crew for sideline chains.
  • Being a member of the crew responsible for painting the practice and stadium football fields.

Failure to meet any of these commitments may result in the financial aid being rescinded and collected from the family.
