LEAN ENGINEER
Location:GT Group, 3 Traynor Way, Whitehouse Business Park, Peterlee, County Durham SR8 2RU
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Job Purpose:
As part of the Knorr-Bremse Group, GT Emissions Systems are world leaders in the design and manufacture of exhaust gas control systems for on/off highway and marine diesel engine applications. Due to the continued growth of our business, we are looking to recruit an experienced Lean Engineer who will have a good technical background with experience of lean training and Six Sigma
Job Description:
- Establish local Knorr-Bremse Production System (KPS) roadmap in agreement with plant management,Centres of Competence(CoCs) and Central Truck Industrial Engineering (T/IE), and continuously follow up and redirect it as well as break down into target objectives for the local plant management
- Identify and prioritise improvement projects with the plant management, based on KPS roadmap, Value Stream Analysis and further business needs
- Coordinate and update KPS projects in strong focus and KPS-KPIs in KPS tool and reports
- Coordinate andsupport KPS audits on plant
- Coordinate improvement activities with/between CoCs and set up cross plant projects
- Drive and monitor the progress of the projects using value stream map and scorecards
- Identify related training needs and coordinate local training approach
- Provide update information on skilled resources of the plant to central T/IE and top management
- Coach people in the application of related methods and tools and take over local training as appropriate
- Contribute to the worldwide KPS network and be the major contact for related communication
- Train employees on the relevant tools and methods
Skills/experience:
- Will have a technical diploma or degree with experience of lean training (advanced) and Six Sigma
- Will have minimum 5 years’ experience from the automotive industry
- Will have strong knowledge or lean tools and methods
- Must have experience of lean implementation projects
- Ideally will have experience in leading project teams
- Ideally will have experience in international environment and/or international projects
- Ideally will have experience with lean implementation projects
- Competent IT skills especially in the use of MS Office, Visio and Minitab, etc
Personality:
- Must have the ability to lead change
- Must have the ability to coach others
- Ideally will have networking skills
- Ideally will have the ability to foster teamwork
- Ideally will have good communication skills, able to communicate at all levels
- Overseas travel required
- Strong English/communication skills (verbal and written)
Salary:
£25,000 to £35,000 per year,depending on experience
Environment:
We offer an excellent working environment in which you will be required to work a minimum 39-hour week based on the following hours:-
Monday08:00 to 17:00
Tuesday08:00 to 16:30
Wednesday 08:00 to 16:30
Thursday08:00 to 17:00
Friday08:00 to 14:30
(each day has a half hour unpaid lunchbreak)
The Company will contribute 3% to a company pension scheme
All additional hours and travelling outside these hours will be included in the salary
