Outline of AIMS Program 2017/2018 at TMU
Regional Development with Tourism
“Regional Development with Tourism” Course offered by Faculty of Urban Environmental Sciences of TMU for incoming students promotes proper use of technology towards the natural environment and city for tourism purposes, and studies tourism based on Science and Engineering.

Tuition Fee: Tuition fee is exempted for the participants in this AIMS Program.
Accommodation: Ohtoryo (on-campus), Shareplace Seisekisakuragaoka (off-campus)
Although room rates of on-campus accommodations (student dormitories) is reasonable, each on-campus dormitory for male students and female students has a limit to the number of the available rooms for AIMS Inbound Students as 4 single rooms for female, 4 single rooms for male.
Off-campus student dormitory is located at 30 minutes’ distance by bus from TMU main campus and it costs approximately three times as high as on-campus one (100USD for on-campus dorm, 300USD for off-campus. Both prices includes utility costs such as electricity, gas, water). * 650-700USD is usual rate for one month rent of one room in this area and utility costs.
Application and Selection Process:
Screening of applications and selection of applicants are conducted by the relevant authority in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Putra Malaysia. Please note that TMU does not directly accept any application forms from candidates for this program.
The submission deadline of all application documents is 31st of May, 2017.
Visa and Immigration Procedures
Students are required to submit a Certificate of Enrolment (COE) from the Tokyo Immigration Bureau in applying for a student visa at the Embassy/ Consulate of Japan in their home country. Tokyo Metropolitan University processes the COE applications for exchange students. Processing time of COE applications is 1-3 months.

AIMS Inbound Program
Academic Year 2017 (2017/2018 Autumn Semester)
AIMS Inbound program includes:
l Pre-training and Common/Core subjects (offered by 3 Japanese consortium universities)
l Specialty courses (by the Faculty of Urban Environmental Sciences, TMU) and Inter-University Courses (by Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Ibaraki University)
l AIMS Wrap-up program (organized by Ibaraki University)
Students are required to obtain:
² minimum of 6 credits from Pre-training and common/core subjects,
² minimum of 14 credits from the Specialty courses / Joint curriculum subjects
² make individual presentations (oral) on the program outcome at the AIMS wrap-up program
as the conditions to complete the program and to receive the certificate of completion.
