Congratulations!!! You have made it to the end of the school year and survived 8th Grade Science!!! I would like to challenge you with one final project. Due to the fact that we are spending the remainder of the year on this project, there can be NO EXTENSIONS!!!!!

Part 1: General Science Overview: Students will choose their final project and spend class time working on the completion of this project. ANY outside assistance (not previously approved) will result in deduction of points.

- Biotechnology/Microbiology: 4/25
- Ecology/Hydrology: 4/26
- Final, overall Rough draft: 4/27
- The final, absolutely awesome project is due by 5/25

Part 2: Individualized, Targeted Review
- Based on the student’s performance on the 8th Grade Science Final Exam, students will be given individualized and targeted review material on their five (5) weakest science standards.
- Students will take a Reloop quiz on those standards.
- Students must get an 80% or better to get credit
- Students will have up to three (3) chances to obtain the 80%.
- 1stReloop Chance: multiple choice questions
- 2ndReloop Chance: multiple choice and short answer questions
- 3rdReloop Chance: multiple choice, short answer and essay questions.
- Reloop assessments must be taken prior to the 8th Grade Science EOG

Science Magazine
- Must have front and back cover. Cover page must have title of magazine, author, and names of featured articles.
- Cover and back pages must be illustrated.
- Must have table of contents page with article and page number.
- Must include at least four (4) articles on each unit (20 articles total). Each article must include topic and authors byline and should be a minimum of two (2) paragraphs long.
- All vocabulary words must be addressed
- Articles can be informative (tell about something), narrative (tell a story) persuasive (present an idea or argument about something you feel strongly about and may include evidence to support your argument), or descriptive (describing something).
- Magazine can include poetry, interviews, short story, music or movie reviews, advice columns, puzzles, riddles, jokes (no inappropriate jokes such as “your momma” jokes or dirty jokes), recipes, fashion, etc.
- Magazines must also include advertisement. These advertisements must be original. (In other words, you must create the ad’s yourself). You may write only two full-page ads. Your ads may be included on a feature page.
- Magazine must be a minimum of 10 pages and no more than 25 pages in length, including advertisements, and front and back pages.
- Each page must be numbered.
Kids Book Series
- Write a Children’s book series reviewing the science concepts
- All vocabulary words must be addressed.
- Write the series so that a child between 6-10 years old will understand
Mural
- Your mural piece of paper will be provided for you. It will be approximately 4 feet long.
- You may NOT cut and paste pictures…you must draw and/or trace ALL pictures and diagrams
- Complete your mural rough draft in pencil
- All vocabulary words must be addressed.
Board Game
- Game board must include positive, negative and challenge spaces.
- The rules must be brief, clear and complete in a booklet form with a design.
- Complete alignment between success in the game and knowledge of science concepts. Players who demonstrate superior knowledge will perform better.
- All vocabulary words must be addressed.
- Game cards are attractively and neatly done. Questions require comprehensive knowledge of content.
