Call for Creative Wedding Proposal Clips from Overseas Couples
The PurposeThis activity takes a creative and topical approachto promotinginternationallythe cultural and scenic enticements of Taiwan’s North Coast. We are inviting couples from around the world to send us video clips of their creative wedding proposals with the chance to earn a memorable trip for two to Taiwan and help promote Taiwan’s North Coast as the premier place for wedding photography in Asia and a great international honeymoon destination.

The Activity
Taiwan’s North Coast, with its distinctive culture and rugged seascape fringed by lush green mountains has consistently been a hot draw for domestic and international tourism. This year’s 2013“love in silhouette” theme is set to promote the North Coast’s distinctive romantic charms through Internet and Youtube promotional campaigns. We are inviting newlywed and romantic couples from overseas (at least one) must be a non-ROC (Taiwan) citizen) to submit a creative video clip of their marriage proposal along with an application form for a chance at an invitation to the North Coast Lovers’ Challenge. The sponsor is looking to select the 3best couple entries to win a5-day / 4-night backpacker travel excursion to beautiful Taiwan. The prize will cover international airfare, meals & accommodations, and a full-day professional wedding photoshoot (monetary value of each prize: approx. US$5,000).
The three winning couples will embark on a 5-day / 4-night North Coast Lovers’ Challenge, with the most creative couple crowned champion and awarded a special Blessings for Happiness gift at the “wedding banquet” finale.
Note: the North Coast Lovers’ Challenge is scheduled to take place between November 4th and 8th, 2013. Applicants must confirm on their application form that they are willing and able to come to Taiwan during this time period in order to ensure all 3 winning couples attend the challenge.
How do I Participate?
Overseas newlyweds and romantic couples are invited to download the official activity application form from the sponsor’s website (www.northguan-nsa.gov.tw) or the official activity website (2013northcoast.com.tw/wedding). Next, upload a clip of your creative marriage proposal to Youtube. The clip must include both of you on camera and be 1~3 minutes in length. Fill out the application form in full and e-mail it to: to complete the application process. You will receive an e-mail from the review committee confirming receipt.
Note: The application requires that applicants describe in sufficient detail how they intend to use the US$5,000 award to create their own 5-day / 4-night North Coast Lovers’ Challenge itinerary.
Who Qualifies?Any newlywed or romantic couple, one of who is a non-ROC (Taiwan) citizen, is eligible to apply and participate.
When to Apply? Applications will be accepted from August 15th through September 30th.
How will the Winners be Chosen?
The sponsor will convene an appropriate selection committee to review applications and select winners in an open and fair manner.
A selection committee meeting will be convened at an appropriate time, with an announcement of winners on the official activity website tentatively scheduled for mid-October. Winning couples will be notified by e-mail. Applicants not chosen will not be otherwise notified.
Selection Criteria: creativity of video clip: 40%; emotive quality of video clip (20%); overall video clip aesthetics (20%); completeness of application (20%). Additional consideration (points) given for high Youtube hit rates.
5 Day / 4 Night Activity Schedule

Day 2 (11/5) / North Coast Lovers’ Challenge - Day1
- The 3 couples enjoy a one-day honeymoon tour of the North Coast together.
- Couples can either reenact their video clip proposal or enact another creative marriage proposal or happy scene (against a scenic North Coast backdrop).
- Couples are encouraged to upload the day’s photos, video clips and creative travel ideas along with descriptive text to the North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area (NCGNSA) Facebook fan page, personal website, or blog to share your experiences and the North Coast’s beauty with friends and family.
- Note 1: Couples must upload at least 5 text & image entries to the NCGNSA Facebook fan page to share with fan page friends and members their romantic discoveries and adventures (number of “likes” and “shares” will be considered in crowning the Lovers’ Challenge winning couple).
- Note 2: In addition to instant Facebook posts, couples are encouraged to post longer articles and the best of the day’s pictures to Facebook, blogs and other sites.
Day 3 (11/6) / North Coast Lovers’ Challenge - Day2
Photo shoot organized with Northern Taiwan professional wedding photographers. Each couple will take at least 10 photos that creatively integrate the beauty of the North Coast.
- Note 1: Couples must upload at least 5 of their own photos of the day’s photo shoot along with text to the NCGNSA Facebook fan page (number of “likes” and “shares” will be considered in crowning the Lovers’ Challenge winning couple).
Day 4 (11/7) / North Coast Lovers’ Challenge - Day3
- Submit 10 selected wedding photos; 1 “Honeymoon in Review” report(including 1 electronic document with 300~600 words of text and at least 5 of your own photos); and a tally of the total number of “likes” and “shares” garnered by your 5 (or more) postings to the NCGNSA Facebook fan page.
- Love in Silhouette – Wedding Banquet and Awards Ceremony (afternoon)
- Banquet: Shared by the couples, media and other important guests.
- Awards Ceremony: The couple selected as “most creative” shall receive a Blessings for Happiness gift package (tentatively to include a tablet computer or smartphone)
- Domestic media will be invited to cover the event.
Day 5 (11/8) / Return / Open Schedule: The couples may return home directly or arrange to spend more time in Taiwan.
