The committee had a visitor Brad McClatchey. He introduced himself and expressed his interest in joining the committee.
HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS
-Committee vacancy
The committee has a pending vacancy; Norm Koester will be leaving the committee.
2 residents have expressed interest in joing the committee, Dave Batreall (visited with committee last month) and Brad McClatchey.
Motion to nominate David Batreall failed
***Motion to nominate Brad McClatchey passed, needs Board Approval.
-Other Items
Discussion was held concerning protocol for contact of outside entities (ie state/federal officials) by committee members.
It was decided, to alleviate confusion and possible conflict, that the committee needs a single point of contact with the state or other outside organizations.
Motion for All correspondence (on behalf on the habitat committee) with state officials will be written (where possible) and copied/forwarded to committee members in a reasonable time frame. Motion passed.
Motion to amend previous motion. To include all outside entities, not just the state. Motion passed.
Committee agreed that all communications, concerning committee business, will not be shared outside of the committee until they have been entered into the committee meeting minutes.
OLD BUSINESS
-Size Limits (largemouth bass)
12-15” bass will be removed from the lake during upcoming Fishing Club events
Numbers of the fish removed will be tracked by the club and monitored by Committee members.
The fishing club will be tracking the numbers of all species of fish caught during tournaments.
Dan Obrien will be point of contact for the bass size waiver
There will be 6-8 fish tournaments held this year by the fishing club
April 18th Bass 7:00 am to 01:00 pm06:30 sign up.
April 25th Crappie 7:00 am to 11:00 am, 6:30 sign up.
-Shore Stabilization
Committee member has been asked what constitutes adequate shore stabilization
Committee would like board to define “what does and does not” constitute shore stabilization
Lots 1192 & 1193and 9515 have potential stabilization issues if current situation is not rectified.
-LakeMapping
Darrell is still waiting for the weather, to resurvey the fish pond. Dam site #1 may also be surveyed, weather permitting.
-Fish Stocking
The request for a $3500 Walleye stocking is placed with the vendor and an order needs to be called in.
* a reminder to the office, that in the next 2 weeks, the committee will be contacting the office concerning the walleye order.
If possible, the committee would like to notify residents of the “drop” date for the fish-stocking event. This will depend on the timing of the delivery by the hatchery.
NEW BUSINESS
Norm Koester announced that he would be leaving the committee. Norm has been a committee member for many years and his experience will be missed by all of the members.
-Fish sampling
During the crappie tournament (April 25th). Samples will be collected and sent to the state for analysis. These samples will include scales, length measurement, species type, and possibly weight measurement.
-later in the year (5/16?), samples may be collected during a large mouth bass tournament also
-water quality study
Mike will be in contact with the state concerning the collection of water quality data on the lake. The data collection will be the same as in 2001for comparative analysis. The study will probably take place in June. Brad may also have contacts that may be able to assist in the collection of this data.
