Contextual Background
Avanti House 4 to 18 All-Through School is part of the Avanti Schools Trust which currently runs three other Primary Schools – Krishna Avanti, Leicester, Krishna Avanti, Harrow and Avanti Court in Redbridge. Avanti House currently has Reception and Y7 pupilsand will extend to Year One and Year 8 in September 2013, adding additional year groups each year with a likely final roll of 1680 making it the largest free school in the country.
The school is a Hindu faith school, has an inclusive ethos rooted in the teachings of Krishna Chaitanya and welcome pupils and staff of all faiths. The schoolis shaped by three key elements for pupils:

The school is already making a difference and has built a strong reputation locally and thus we are looking for flexible colleagues who are not only experts in their field but who are also able to demonstrate exceptional inter-personal skills which will help deliver a brilliant learning experience for ALL our students.
Key Stage Three Curriculum
The traditional three year Key Stage Three Curriculum will be condensed into two years - Years 7 and 8 - allowing a three year Key Stage Four curriculum with the chance of early entry GCSEs and possible early access onto some post – 16 modules. The timetable will consist of 45 x 40 minute lessons, giving 30 hours of teaching per week. The period allocation in Year Seven and Eight is as follows :

All students will study French and Spanish in Year Seven with a one-term taster of Latin and Sanskrit in the Spring and Summer Term of 2013. In Year Eight, it is envisaged that pupils will select two, possibly three languages for further study. A significant proportion of the curriculum is given over to Performing Arts as one of the school’s two specialisms, the other being Mathematics. Yoga will be taught as part of the Dance / Drama curriculum. The Ethics curriculum will cover major religions, philosophy and moral issues across a broad range of contexts. As pupils progress into Year Nine there will be a greater opportunity to personalise the curriculum but all students will retain the core elements of the English Baccalaureate namely English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography and a Modern Foreign Language.
