WATBike - Guided leisure bike rides for June 2016
Sat 4th June / EarsdonAll / 1900 / WATBike summer get together. Chance for a get together at Earsdon Community Centre, Only £5 per ticket, entertainment will consist of simple food, BYO drinks, bingo, and a bit of cycling “swishing”, and some nice tunes.
Sun 5th June / Cobalt / 0900 / Ponteland, Stamfordham, Corbridge for a cuppa, and ride back along the Tyne on the Hadrian’s Way to Newcastle. 45 miles.
Wed 8th June / Cobalt / 1700 / Riding into the City, and over 5 bridges across the Tyne, then returning via Jesmond for tea and cake at Cake Stories, then back to Cobalt.
Sun 12th June / Blyth / 0900 / Circular ride around the tracks and trails of South East Northumberland, with a little drink on way back.
June 12-14 / Cobalt / 0700 / 3 day ride, Moffat, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and done the coast. Fully booked.
Wed 15th June / Quorum / 1715 / Ride out west via the Reivers route for a drink after 20 miles in Stamfordham, with bus back to Quorum.
Sun 19th June / North Shields / 0945 / Meeting at North Shields ferry. A gentle ride around the tracks and trails of South Tyneside, returning after a few hours and a cuppa and cake.
Wed 22nd June / Cobalt / 1700 / Heading out to west of Newcastle, crossing the Tyne and back again, stopping for a drink on way back to Cobalt.
Sat 25th June / Cobalt / 0700 / 4 Abbeys. Another chance to ride this brilliant circular in the Scottish Borders. Transport to and from Jedburgh, with a guided 50 mile circuit around Melrose, Drybrough and Kelso (with a short cut for those who might struggle). £20 per head.
Sun 26th June / Cobalt / 0900 / Heading out to Elsdon cycle café, via Tranwell, Bolam, Scots Gap, then passing the Winters Gibbet, followed by a whizz down to café after 40+ miles, great cuppa at Elsdon then bus back around 2pm.

Wed 29th June / Blyth / 1700 / Riding down the coast via Tynemouth, cheeky half at the Earl of Zetland, and retuning back to Blyth. Nice easy ride.
Sun 3rd July / Cobalt / 0900 / Claire Blake is 50! We are riding out to Activ Cycles in Corbridge to have a cake with Blakey for her birthday!
Meeting points:
- Blyth will be from the large car park by Coastline Chippy restaurant at South Beach.
- North Tyneside will be Car Park opposite Village Hotel
- Quorum Business Park, (by Greggs shop) NE12 8FB
- No children under the age of 12
- Only “standard” bikes, no recumbent bikes, tandems or 3 wheelers on these rides. We may be able to do rides with these types of bike by request, just call us.
- Cost is £10 per head when bus is required, and only £5 if a circular ride-includes pick up from the designated point, transport by minibus from there or return, this includes a place on the trailer for your bike. Payment can be made on the day of the ride.
- A minimum of 8 riders are required to make each ride viable, if less than 8 we maintain the right to cancel and you will be offered a place on another ride.
- If you want any particular type/length of ride, or maybe wish to take in a certain event or location, then let us know and we can design something to suit you.
- These are leisure rides to be enjoyed; we want you to be able to appreciate some of the fabulous parts of the North East that you probably wouldn’t see from a car window. Fun, fresh air and gentle exercise! Each ride will have experienced guides to help you along, and in all cases there will be shortcuts should anyone find they are really struggling.
- We suggest bringing a water bottle, and some snacks to keep your energy levels up, and we always try and end where we can get drinks/snacks. Wearing of cycle helmets is advisory.
- All cyclists ride at their own risk, the Highway Code should be adhered to at all times.You are responsible for your own safety and should be aware at all times of other users of the roads and tracks.
