Research & related Activities carried out at IIT Roorkee:

State of the art Research Laboratory on Functional Nanomaterials developed in the Department of Physics is equipped with following synthesis & characterization techniques:

RF&DC Magnetron sputtering system with dual vacuum chambers, five magnetron guns and the facility to deposit Nanocrystalline powder, thin films and multilayers by varying Substrate temperature from – 150C to 850C with a base pressure ≈ 10-8 Torr.

Nanoindentation with hot stagefor measuring mechanical properties of nanostructured thin films and heterostructures.

Cryogen Free Vibrating Sample magnetometerwith magnetic field in the range of ±5 tesla for measuring the magnetic properties of nanostructured thin films and multilayers.

Low & High temperature Dielectric, Ferroelectric and Piezoelectric characterization system.

Electrical transport measurement systemwith closed cycle cryostat and Keithley instruments.
