ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR achieves 25,000
VEHICLE milestone in canada
Entrepreneurial energy fuels company growth from a single,
25-vehicle operation to an industry leader in just over ten years
TORONTO, ON, Nov. 9, 2004 – Enterprise Rent-A-Car, North America’s largest rental car company, today announced it has reached an average fleet size of 25,000 vehicles in Canada. The announcement follows the company’s eleventh consecutive year of growth in Canada, which has seen the company expand to nearly 300 locations and more than 2,100 employees serving the neighbourhood and airport rental needs of leisure, replacement and corporate customers alike.
“Our Canadian operation is firing on all cylinders and continues to make steady gains from coast to coast thanks to loyal customers who keep coming back for more of our superior customer service,” says Tony Moise, senior vice president for Canadian operations. “Enterprise is proud to be a Canadian company. We owe our success to the goodwill of our customers and are happy to show our appreciation by reinvesting in the local economy through job creation, tax dollars and vehicle purchasing.”
Enterprise opened for business in Windsor, Ontario, 11 years ago as a single location with a 25-vehicle fleet and two employees, and has since grown to become one of the country’s leading rental car companies for the leisure and replacement markets. Along the way, Enterprise’s Canadian operation has experienced a compound annual growth rate of 37 per cent resulting in a total economic impact in Canada of more than $1 billion annually – including more than $632 million in vehicle purchases in the local market.
In growing their workforce, Enterprise is committed to hiring locally for each new location that opens. In 2004 alone, Enterprise created 250 new positions within the company’s Management Training program to meet growing demand for rental vehicles. Virtually all Enterprise executives started their careers as management trainees, a testament to the company’s commitment to promoting from within.
Making a positive social impact and being a good corporate citizen in its community is equally important to Enterprise. Each year, employees undertake community service activities resulting in nearly $445,000 donated to local charities.
