How to Use the Data Projector and DVD Player or VCR
in Cullimore 411
*Warning! Please do not tilt or put excessive pressure on the cabinet shelves in 411 holding the DVD player, VCR, and amplifier!
- Before going to 411, you will need two things: the padlock key and the projector (keep it in its carrier which also contains the necessary cables). Both are found in Cullimore 422. You can make arrangements with Janet Bodner, Nina Pardi, Jerry Paris, or someone else in the ESL program.
- In 411, connect the projector to the power supply. Use the black, three-pronged plug. The socket on the projector is along the back right panel.
- Use the padlock to open the cabinet in Cullimore 411. Connect the amplifier and the DVD player (or VCR) to the power supply.
- Press the POWER button on the amplifier and on the DVD or VCR player. Insert your disk or tape. Be sure that the amplifier is in the correct mode: for VCR use “Video 1,” and for DVD use “Video 2.” The buttons for these settings are found on the upper-right of the front panel of the amplifier.
- Take the long cord on top of the DVD player or VCR (whichever you are using) and connect it to the video input of the projector. This small, round input is marked Video and is located on the left side panel of the projector (it is outlined in yellow).
- On the top of the projector, you will see a button labeled INPUT. Press this button once and on the top left corner of the screen you should see the word “Video.” If you do not see it, then press INPUT until you do. (There are only three settings: Analog RGB, Video, and Camera). Be patient here; between each time of hitting the button, allow a pause of several seconds.
- When the screen turns blue, you should be ready to show your video or dvd.
- There are three remote controls, each placed next to its corresponding device. Be sure to use the amplifier remote to control the volume.
Disconnecting:
- Remove the video cable and coil it carefully and put it back on top of the DVD player/VCR.
- Press “Eject” to remove the video or DVD from the player.
- Press “Power” to switch off the equipment.
- Unplug the cords from the power outlet.
- Unplug the projector from the power supply and return it (along with its cord) in its carrying case back to room 422.
- Relock the cabinet, return the projector, and lock everything behind you, returning key(s) to their proper places!
