UNDERGRADUATE REQUESTS FOR A LETTER OF PERMISSION (LOP)
Students of the BBA and iBBA programs may complete non-business electives during the summer at YorkUniversity or at another accredited university. Students may take courses at another university, if the courses are pre-approved by “Letter of Permission” (LOP) prior to the term in question. Please refer to Undergraduate Academic Handbook.
Students are required to make their requests in writing and provide course outlines from the host University. Students are encouraged to submit their request for a Letter of Permission as early as possible so that there is sufficient time for review. Academic rules and regulations apply. Students who do not have approval for LOP courses prior to taking them run the risk of taking a course that may not be counted toward their Schulich degree. Credit(s) for the course(s) taken on a Letter of Permission will be added to the student record once an official transcript has been received from the host institution. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange to have the official transcripts forwarded to YorkUniversity. Transcripts should be forwarded to the attention of the Records Assistant, Division of Student Services and International Relations, Schulich School of Business.
Please complete the information below and attach it to a course description from the host University along with a concise statement outlining why you are requesting to take a course at another institution. The letter should also include how many credits and toward what year level the student would like for it to apply. Students should keep a copy of this form as well as all the documents submitted for their own personal records. All correspondence should be addressed to the “Undergraduate Programs Sub-Committee.” Students will receive written notification of the decision of this LOP by mail. Students may need to wait several weeks for a decision.
