Job Description
Job Title:Grounds Maintenance Operative (casual post)Location:Based at Recreation Ground, Barnsley Road, South Kirkby
Reports to: Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
A casual post working for 6 weeks in September/October 2017 for 37 hours per week on South Kirkby and Moorthorpe Town Council’s pay-scale level 1 (£7.78 per hour) based at the Barnsley Road Recreation Ground but working across the parish of South Kirkby and Moorthorpe.
Main Tasks
- To carry out a range of grounds maintenance tasks.
- Grass cutting, raking, edging, weeding, pruning,
- Sweeping, litter picking and general cleanliness maintenance
- Driving and operating vehicles/plant including vehicle attached machinery, pedestrian and ride on machinery and hand held equipment.
- To maintain parks, gardens and open spaces to the required standards.
- To undertake daily routine safety and maintenance checks ensuring that vehicles, machinery and equipment used are well maintained, kept clean and not exposed to the risk of damage or loss/theft.
- To complete documents relating to the role of the post such as daily work records, vehicle/equipment defect reporting, health and safety reporting.
- Other reasonable duties commensurate with the experience of the post holder and grading of the post that may be required from time to time.
Person Specification
Essential / Desirable
Education and training / Full clean driving licence to transport employees and equipment and to operate other associated vehicles and machinery.
Knowledge / A basic knowledge of health and safety.
Skills and abilities / Ability to work well as a member of a team. / Ability to use own initiative in organising and undertaking tasks.
Experience / Experience of undertaking grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting. / Experience of grass cutting using a ride on mower.
Working Conditions:
The work requires physical effort as the post is mostly manual work.
