Meeting Minutes Tuesday December 12, 2017

- Treasurers Report
- Total Cash: $16,369.49.
- E-Bingo and Projected Revenue: $17,400.
- Parish Report
- Melissa was sent by the Diocese for facilitator training for a new program which will be provided at various Parishes including Our Lady of Sorrows.
- The program is called “Staying Connected” and is for adolescents aged 10-14 and their parents.
- The focus is on staying connected, reconnecting, and relationship building.
- The program runs for 7 weeks and each week there is a Parent, Child and Family session included.
- Chair Report
- The Christmas Craft night was very successful and well attended; many people came early and left by 7 pm so next year’s will be run from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
- The PIC Committee had an overwhelming response to the parent survey and there will be a meeting in the New Year to discuss.
- Christmas Luncheon Update/Planning
- The Luncheon will be held on Thursday December 21st at OLOS.
- Kathy has been coordinating volunteers. Volunteers are needed on Wednesday December 20th at 9 am until early afternoon and on Thursday December 21st from 11 am to 1 pm for serving and clearing.
- Volunteers who can assist on the 20th please bring a glass pan for rice krispy squares and a potato peeler if possible.
- The carrots will be donated from Bonduelle.
- Principal’s Report
- Tabatha McCurdy is back as an EA.
- Tina Lasook resigned and her last day is Thursday December 21st.
- Mrs. Watters will be resigning after the Christmas Holidays.
- Jennifer Boin came to Assumption with some former students to speak to the Grade 8 students about St Josephs High School.
- Intramural basketball skills training has started, and intramural 3 on 3 tournaments will be starting in January.
- First Lego League had a great showing and the kids did very well.
- School Connects which is currently used for board-wide attendance, will be used for school –parent reminders beginning in January via parent text messages. A note will be sent home with log in instructions.
- The School Council fundraiser will be discussed and planned in January; the possibility of a family dance was discussed.
- The Grade 7/8’s have received a Speak Up Grant for leadership opportunities for $2,500 and will be used to purchase STEAM materials for the school to use and the students will train other children.
- All students are receiving 1 hour of coding time per month to focus on learning to code.
- 2 school funding requests will be discussed in January: STEAM Club items as well as professional yearbook binding.
- The 8 new laptops as well as sound systems have been arrived and have been well used and enjoyed by the students, with 2 more coming.
Upcoming Dates
- Wednesday December 20th at 6 pm –Christmas Concert
- Thursday December 21st – Christmas Mass and Luncheon at OLOS followed by a Ham and Turkey Bingo during the Color House activities.
- Friday December 22ndat 10:30 am – Grade 3- 8 Bells and Band Concert
