Figurative Language Project

Good writers use figurative language to enhance their work. You will construct a notebook demonstrating your knowledge of figurative language. Use the following checklist as you work.

_____ 1. Choose 9 terms from your figurative language sheet,

write an original example for each, and explain what it means.

Do not use an example from the handout. Be creative!

_____ 2. Illustrate each example. The illustration should reflect the

figurative language used and be somewhat silly. You may use

computer images if you’d like to, but be careful. Be colorful

and neat.

_____ 3. Each example should be labeled, defined, written and illustrated

on a separate sheet of blank paper.

_____ 4. All writing should be typed or handwritten in black ink.

_____ 5. Create a title page which includes the title, your name, the date,

and the class period.

_____ 6. A table of contents should follow the title page. List each

figurative language term used along with the page number it

can be found on.

Some class time will be available to work on this, but much of the work will need to be done outside of class.

To receive full credit for your project you must turn it in by ______. Late projects may be turned in according to the following schedule:

1 day late = loss of 10 points 3 days late = loss of 30 points

2 days late = loss of 20 points 4 days late = zero
