The CHeSS Methods Core is dedicated to providing CHeSS faculty affiliates with high quality analytical and research assistance. We provide access to a high capacity statistical server, public and private research data sets, and a consulting staff with expertise in data collection, data management, and data analysis. The student intern will help support meetings and educational programs sponsored by the Methods Core.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
-Research Assistant Responsibilities: Please list the duties the student will fulfill. It is important -that you are able to provide a valuable learning experience for the student.
The student intern will assist in the development and implementation of agenda for Methods Core sponsored meetings. At present, this is limited to quarterly meetings for the CMS Data Group at the University of Chicago, but other opportunities may be developed.
The student intern will assist in the development and implementation of educational programs in support of the Methods Core’s mission. These may be targeted at Methods Core staff or at CHeSS Faculty Affiliates. The topics are likely to be the technical details of data sets or analytic methods.
The Methods Core most frequently works with health insurance claims data (e.g. the Truven Health MarketScan® Research Databases and the Medicare Claims Files), hospital admissions data (e.g. the Nationwide Inpatient Sample), Federal population based surveys (e.g. BRFSS, NAMCS, NHIS). We also work with UC hospital data collaborative data including other academic medical centers, as well as many other data sets.
RA Qualifications:
Applicants should be well organized, have good “people” skills and be interested in learning about data and methods used in health services research.
