Safety Town
Safety Town is a nationally recognized safety awareness and education program offered to children entering kindergarten every summer in the State of Ohio. The curriculum used is mandated by the state and was developed over 50 years ago. Your child will learn songs, do art projects, eat a snack, plus have the chance to participate in a SAFETY TOWN using tricycles and a real traffic light on our “mock city streets playground.” This year’s class is for children entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2015. Those entering the first grade will be allowed to enroll if space permits. Registration is required by the Friday before the session begins. Please register early as space is limited and the sessions will fill up quickly.

Sports Camp at the YMCA (Ages 6-12)
Choose your camp weeks from a Specific Sport or Fun Camp. The Fun Camp* will include Corn hole, Dodgeball, Frisbee games, Carpet Ball Tournaments, and more. There will be daily pool usage so make sure campers bring a towel and swim suit along with a brown bag lunch and water bottle each day. Mark child’s items with names. These camps are held at the Hillcrest YMCA. Listed below is a mock schedule for a typical day at Sports Camp and/or Fun Camp:

All Around Art Camp (Ages 6-8)
Meet new friends while creating masterpieces! Engage in a wide variety of art activities which might include: games, painting, drawing, and sculpture as well as traditional camp crafts such as tie dye, beading or mosaics. Each week will have different projects so feel free to sign up for more than one week! All supplies included in the fee. (5-yr olds may participate if they have completed kindergarten). All Star Baseball and Softball Camp (Gr. 1-6)
Boys and girls will learn and improve batting, fielding, pitching, catching, and base running. Players will be divided into groups by gender and age. Different skills will be taught each day and then applied to their games. Other fun games and contests we will be attempting include a “Home Run Derby,” “Pitch, Hit and Run” Contest, and a “World Series” on the last day of camp. Instructors: JumpStart Sports

Hoop It Up Basketball (Gr. K-3)
Boys and girls will improve on all aspects of their basketball game and have a blast at the same time! Our coaches utilize fun drills and competitions that help players improve their shooting, passing, ball handling, and defensive techniques. Players will also have the opportunity to play in many 3 on 3 games, 5 on 5 games, plus fun skills competitions. This camp is only for four days. Instructors: JumpStart Sports

Drawing Camp with the Master Artists (Ages 8-12)
Spend some time learning about and replicating some Master Artists with Young Rembrandts. We will explore different media while we create a large scene reminiscent to Roy Lichtenstein’s “Still Life with Figurine” from 1974. We will explore many ways to illustrate shadow and light using techniques he used. We will also create many cartoons of famous artists and explore pastel chalks on the last day as we learn about Paul Cezanne and his mastery of light and color. No experience necessary. “Fit In Five” Camp (Girls, entering Grades 3-6)
“Fit In Five” is a five day experience for girls entering grades 3-6 in the Fall of 2015. This high-energy camp is filled with fun fitness activities, industry-expert guest speakers & instructors, and a variety of interactive health education lessons to promote a positive mind-body connection for tweens to have healthy minds, bodies, relationships, and attitudes. Each day, girls learn educational fitbits and experience exciting, new activities in five domains: Fitness, Friendships, Feelings, Food, and Fun. Instructor: Frannie Foltz

Glitter Camp (Ages 6-8)
A camp fit for royalty! Come to a week filled with glitter, jewels and plenty of pink! We will create traditional artwork such as paintings, and drawings. Also, we will be making paper dolls, fairy wands, and much, much more! Not everything will have glitter but we will work with all things pretty! Instructor: Emily English

Horseback Riding Camp (Ages 6+)
This riding camp is an experience for the serious horseman, even if you’ve never ridden before! Riders will learn the details about caring for horses and also enjoy daily mounted lessons. We incorporate field trips to local horse shows and our vet hospital. The highlights of the week are the Thursday night barn sleepover and the grooming and horse painting contest. Toddler Horseback Riding Camp (Ages 3-5)
Much like our toddler lessons, the riders in this camp will have a leader leading the pony and staying by the child’s side for safety reasons.

Hole-In-One Golf Camp (Gr. 1-6)
Children will learn all the strokes, practice them each day, and end with a field trip to Brandywine Par 3 Golf Course in Peninsula to practice what was learned throughout the week. Players should bring golf clubs if they have them. Clubs will be provided to those who don’t have their own. In addition to golfing, children will participate in a variety of sports and games. $15 greens fee plus bus transportation payable on the first day. Instructors: JumpStart Sports

World Cup Soccer Camp (Gr. K-6)
Kids will get their kicks at World Cup Soccer Camp! Players learn foot skills, passing, shooting, goal keeping, and team concepts. Each day, they are also divided by gender and skill level to participate in games. Games and competitions will be “small-sided” to ensure all players stay very involved. Small teams will each represent a country and will culminate in a fun “World Cup” competition at the end of the camp week. Instructors: JumpStart Sports

Pottery Camp (Ages 6-8)
In this 3-day camp we will be making masterpieces from messy mud on the potter’s wheel. We will also pinch and roll clay and turn flat slabs into fantastic fun and functional art. We will create 1-2 pieces of art each day, with each week’s work fired and ready to be picked up the following Friday. No projects will be repeated, so come for one week or for every week we will be offering! Camp meets three days each week from 9 am to Noon. Instructor: Joan Rusek

Messy Mini-Camp (Ages 6-9)
Summer just isn’t summer without sticky fingers and sandy toes! Let’s make it even better by making all sorts of messy art! Paper mache, splatter paint, tie-dye, finger painting, print making, and more! A great fit for the kid who likes to jump right in! We will do a super messy project each day followed by one that’s not so messy. Wear old clothes. Instructor: Emily English
