Treasure Island

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Treasure Island is about every child hiding God’s Word in their heart. The following are Biblical truths that will be taught in Club 252. Children will be encouraged to keep this resource by their bed or quiet place in order to spend time with God each day, studying His Word and getting to know Him better. After a truth is hidden in their heart and recited to the children’s pastor, they will receive a gold coin in their treasure chest. Each gold coin is worth 10 stamps. Every three coins is worth a treat of their choice (donut or candy bar). Once a child has memorized all of the Biblical truths they will receive a special Bible during a Sunday morning service. The goal is for every child to receive their Bible before graduating to the Youth Group.

It is a privilege for the church to partner with parents and to work together to spiritually train the children. Please encourage your child to spend a few moments each day reviewing the truths that we are studying in Club 252. This could also be a great resource for family devotions. The list can be learned in any order. Again, we will be studying these truths in Club 252 each Sunday and Wednesdays throughout the summer, but need your help!

Although it is extremely important to teach the children the Word of God, it is equally important to pray for them. Please know our prayer is that your child will hunger and thirst for righteousness, have a love for God and for His Word, and will grow deeply in love with Him as they experience Him in their own way each day. Thank you for your partnership!

Armor of God

Ephesians 6:13-18

New International Version (NIV)

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

The Beatitudes

Matthew 5:1-12

5Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him,2and he began to teach them.

Saying:

3“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Psalm 23

NIV

1The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,

3he restores my soul.
He guides me along paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.

4Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6Surely your goodness and mercy will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

The Lord’s Prayer

Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11Give us this day our daily bread.

12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Fruits of the Spirit

Galations 5:22-26

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

The Ten Commandments

Exodus 20:1-17

And God spoke all these words:

2“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3“You shall have no other gods before me.

4“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

7“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy

12“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

13“You shall not murder.

14“You shall not commit adultery.

15“You shall not steal.

16“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17“You shall not covet.

John 3:16

16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Roman’s Road

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”Romans 10:9,13

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” Romans 8:1

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”

The Two Greatest Commandments

Matthew 22:36-40

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment.

And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
