Training Course Announcement

The IDHS Training Division will present the following course:

Incident Command System (ICS) 100-400 Train-The-Trainer (TTT)

Who Should Attend?

This course is for those persons wanting to teach the Incident Command System 100-400 curricula. After completing this course, students will be able to teach ICS 100-400. The Emergency Management Institute mandates that students must demonstrate a working knowledge of ICS through experience and/or training and have previously attended classes in adult education.
Participants must meet ALL of the following prerequisites:

  1. ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300, ICS 400, IS-700 and IS-800. NOTE: Students must have taken the Emergency Management Institute, US Department of Agriculture, National Fire Academy or National Wildfire Coordinating Group ICS courses. Other ICS courses must meet ICS objectives prescribed by the NIMS Integration Center.
  2. Participants must have worked as IC, command or general staff positions on incidents that went longer than one operational period or involved a written action plan and involved multi-agency coordination.
  3. Students must meet the NIMS Integration Center’s guidelines for instructors as follows:

ICS 100:Lead and Unit instructors should have successfully completed ICS 100, ICS 200, and IS-700 AND lead instructors should have training and experience in adult education and have served as Incident Commander or in a command or general staff position.

ICS 200:Lead instructor should have successfully completed ICS 300 AND should have training and experience in adult education and have served as Incident Commander or in a command or general staff position. Unit instructor should have successfully completed ICS 200.

ICS 300:Lead instructor should have successfully completed ICS 400 AND should have training and experience in adult education and have served as Incident Commander or in a

command or general staff position in an incident that went beyond one operational period or required a written Incident Action Plan. Unit instructors should have served as Incident Commander or in a command or general staff position OR have specialized knowledge and experience appropriate for the audience, such as public health or public works.

ICS 400:All instructors should have successfully completed ICS 400 AND IS-800, the National Response Plan. Lead instructor should have training and experience in adult education and have served as Incident Commander or in a command or general staff position in an incident that required multi-agency coordination and went beyond once operational period or required a written IAP. Unit instructors must have served as Incident Commander or in a command or general staff position in an incident that went beyond one operational period or required a written IAP OR have specialized knowledge and experience appropriate for the audience, such as public health or public works.

*Adult education recommendations for ICS 300 and ICS 400 LEAD and UNIT instructors

  • Formal instructor training such as college courses, National Wildlife Coordinating Groups Facilitative Instructor M410 course, Emergency Management Institute’s Master Trainer Program, National Fire Academy’s Instructional Methodology class, or DHS Office of Grants and Training’s Instructor Training Certification course, or equivalent.

Course Description

This course prepares participants to deliver FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute's ICS curricula. While ICS 100 and 200 courses are addressed, the major emphasis is on ICS 300 and 400. This course is eligible for 3.1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through FEMA.

This course will be conducted onSeptember18-21, 2007 at the Concord Fire Station #1, 23625 County Road 18, Elkhart, Indiana, 46516. There is no charge for attending this course however students will be responsible for their own travel and meals. Light refreshments will be provided. NO LODGING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THIS FIELD COURSE.
