In order to develop our SLOs, create culturally responsive teaching/assessment strategies and infuse culturally pluralistic content into our curricula, we would benefit by viewing some of the relevant literature.
Below are some places to begin. This list is not meant to be comprehensive, but a digest of the many resources that are available on the internet, many of which have references to journal articles. (There has not been an attempt made to assist with content infusion through this list; the focus is mostly pedagogy.) If you are aware of other interesting resources, let me know and they can be added to the list.

·  A list of mathematics resources in Spanish: Here is a comprehensive list of Spanish language resources for math that we might find useful.

·  From the NCTM subgroup TODOS. Has many Spanish language math resources, including interactive websites. Much of the material is K-12, but there are some useful things for basic skills materials at the community college level.

·  Radical Math. This site has numerous applications, references, resources and ideas for applying mathematics topics to social justice and cultural issues.

·  Mayan Math. A list of site related to Mayan matheamtics.

·  Math and Culture.This is the site of a new academic journal on ethnomathematics and math and culture, called.....the Journal of Mathematics and Culture. Check it out!

·  Center for the Mathematics Education of Latino/as (CEMELA). This site has many resources listed and items to explore.

·  Math and Art. Here is one of numerous sites looking at the modern and historical relationship between mathematics and art.

·  Status and Trends in the Education of Hispanics A US Department of Education document.

·  Hispanic and Anglo Students' Misconceptions in Mathematics.. Some insight about addressing obstacles Hispanics may face in learning mathematics.

·  AMATYC Resources on Minority/Gender Issues. Here are some online resources from AMATYC.

·  Multicultural Perspectives in Mathematics Education. This is a site with many links, articles and bibliography on the topic.

·  On Equity and Inclusion in Math and Science Classrooms. Good teaching techniques and specific issues related to various cultural groups are discussed. Links to other resources are provided.

·  Strategies from Jaime Escalante. Here are some good teaching strategies and observations from the teacher made famous by the movie Stand and Deliver (required viewing for all math instructors!).

·  Barriers for Hispanics and Native Americans in Mathematics. Informative results of research on obstacles for learning math from these two cultural groups. Recommendations for removing these barriers are discussed.

·  The Hispanic Dilemma: What Are We Doing About It?. An article about educating Hispanic/Latino students.

·  Hispanics in Math and Science: Attracting Student Teachers and Retraining Experienced Teachers. An article about inspiring Hispanic students to study math and science.

·  SACNAS. Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (math included).

·  Reforming Mathematics Instruction for ESL Literacy Students. An article about teaching math to ESL students. Includes discussion of curricular issues and relations to NCTM standards.

·  Minorities in Science and Math. Gives some teaching strategies and references.

·  Teaching Mathematics for Tomorrow's World. Suggestions for teaching strategies, student goals and learning outcomes.

·  Links from TeAchnology. Links to issues of equity, teaching at-risk students, multicultural mathematics as well as other teaching strategies and ideas.

·  Multicultural Education. Links and resources on the multicultural education in general.

·  Diversity Within Unity: Essential Principles for Teaching and Learning in a Multicultural Society. A good article on content and assessment from James Banks, one of the pioneers and gurus on multicultural education.

·  Assessment Equity in a Multicultural Society. An article on the cultural aspects of assessment.

·  Minority Math Web Sites. A variety of links related to minority groups involved with math and math history. Includes ethnomathematics links.

·  Teaching Science and Mathematics to At Risk Students. Ideas for alternative teaching for at risk students.

·  Teachers' Perceptions of Math and Math Culture. Article about how we look at math determines how we teach math.
