WESTMINSTER ROUGH SLEEPING PATHWAY & HHCP TRAINING CALENDAR 2018-2019
Welcome to the Westminster Rough Sleeping Pathway & Homeless Health Coordination Project training calendar. There are a range of themes on the calendar including sessions both for service users and workers, physical health and mental health. The calendar also features a "PIE (psychologically informed environments) workshop series" a selection of approaches, topics and theories which have the best evidence base or consensus around their usefulness in homelessness settings. The PIE workshop series is complimented by a range of sessions on mental health conditions and Westminster mental health pathways.

This particular workshop is designed for homeless support workers, and addresses specific risks and vulnerabilities that are often faced by their service users. The skills covered could include:

- To increase the confidence of the learners, alongside their willingness to act
- Dealing with someone who is unconscious and breathing (Adult)
- Dealing with someone who is unconscious who are not breathing (Adult)
- Helping someone who is bleeding

Assertiveness Training – delivered by IAPT. This training will cover:
- The difference between assertive, passive and aggressive communication styles.
- Look at the costs and benefits of each communication style
- How to make requests and say 'no' more assertively
Blow to the head? Homeless? Leigh Andrews
Research indicates that up to 50% of people who are homeless have experienced a head injury severe enough to cause damage to the brain. A blow to the head can cause changes in the brain that affect mood, behaviour and memory. During this session we will look at how brain injuries are acquired, what the effects are and who and what helps.
