Thank you for supporting TeamLatvia. It is with humility that we represent OakwoodChurchas we share Christ’s love with the children at JelgavaCity Orphanage. We know that to have effective ministry we need family, friends, and the body of believers from Oakwood praying for the kids, orphanage staff, and our team. Below is a prayer guide for you based on our anticipated itinerary.

Friday, June 11 & Saturday, June 12

  • Prepare orphans & staff for our visit
  • Health of team members
  • Packing of Supplies

Sunday, June 13 & Monday, June 14

  • Safe Travel
  • Flight Connections
  • No volcanic ash
  • Final preparations before meeting children

Tuesday, June 15

  • Day one of VBS – Creation; We matter to God because He created us in His image and wants a relationship with us
  • Rejoice with us as we greet our young friends and meet new children
  • Spa day specifically planned to encourage teen girls to interact with us

Wednesday, June 16

  • Day two of VBS – Esther; God created us with a purpose & plan for our lives
  • Interaction with local church body to complete a renovation project at the orphanage
  • Bonding & support for the team

Thursday, June 17

  • Day three of VBS – Daniel; God’s plan includesFor protecting & taking care of us
  • Team’s health and rest
  • Meeting with Latvian official about hosting program

Friday, June 18

  • Safe travel to the Baltic Sea with the children
  • Fellowship and fun with the staff and children
  • Show God’s love to tourists and local Latvians

Saturday, June 19

  • Day four of VBS – Salvation Message,Pray the children have a clear understanding of the salvation message
  • Ice Cream social with children at Sparrow’s Nest Orphanage
  • Team to see God’s plan unfolding in Latvia

Sunday, June 20

  • Increase connections with JelgavaChurch members and pastor
  • Fellowship with children while bowling
  • Opportunities to challenge older children who have a personal relationship with Christ

Monday, June 21

  • Day five of VBS – Paul; God loves us, transforms us and grows us to be more like Him
  • Complete renovation work
  • Memorable moments with children on our last day at the orphanage
  • Comforted hearts for the children and Team Latvia as we depart the orphanage

Tuesday, June 22

  • Safe travel to Riga
  • Team fellowship before returning home
  • Praise for what God accomplished in the hearts of the children

Wednesday, June 23

  • Safe return to the United States
  • Flight connections
  • No volcanic ash
  • Praise God for allowing the team to do His work with the children of Jelgava City Orphanage
