Cool Hunting Assignment

Introduction

In the video Merchants of Cool you observed market researchers engaged in “Cool Hunting” among teenagers. The purpose was to identify upcoming trends and anticipate future market demand. One of the techniques they used was to send correspondents into the streets and take pictures of unusual or trend setting kids and interview them.

Project Description

You will be involved in market research, primarily engaged in “Cool Hunting.” Armed with a camera and your discerning eyes, you will be on the lookout for upcoming trends, styles, and fashion. With the photos you collect, you can use any method you want to present the information you have found. This is an opportunity for you to show off your creativity.

Any pictures you take of people, especially students in the school be sure to ask them if you can take the photo and let them know what it will be used for.

What to include:

  • Images of the future trends (you must include at least 5 NEW TRENDS)
  • Description/captions of the photos (whom/what the photo is of, and where you found the person)
  • What has influenced this person to dress in that style?
  • Stretch the limits, select something you love and show what the future of it is.
