Expressions of interest are invited from permanent employees interested in relieving in the position of SEO2,Learning and Wellbeing Advisor, Moreewith the Educational Services team, position number 174304.This position is available Terms 2 and 3, 2016.
The position involves supporting the delivery of a range of Learning and Wellbeing services and programs to enhance student wellbeing and to meet the needs of a diverse range of students, including Aboriginal students, students with disability and/or additional learning needs and those at risk of disengaging.
An expression of interest addressing the selection criteria, of no more than two pages in length should be submitted to Traci Prendergast, Learning and Wellbeing Coordinator by 4pm Thursday 31 March2016.
Statement of duties
- Advising and supporting schools, principals and teachers to meet the needs of students with diverse and complex learning and engagement needs, including school attendance, child protection, disability and cultural identity.
- Coordinating effective learning and engagement service provision, resource coordination and maximisation to support schools to meet the diverse learning needs of their students such as discipline, attendance, school safety and response, student support placements and Home School Liaison.
- Working cooperatively with the Learning and Wellbeing Coordinator and a multi-disciplinary team to support planning of priorities and achievement of targets.
- Monitoring and maintaining effective mechanisms for high quality professional development, support and supervision for non-specialist and specialist staff in the learning and wellbeing team.
- Planning and coordinating programs to address the needs of students with complex learning and support needs including school attendance, child protection, disability and cultural identity.
- Promoting parent and community participation and involvement in education and effective interagency collaboration.
- Coordinating and delivering professional learning and support for schools to enable responsive approaches to meet the learning and wellbeing needs of students from diverse backgrounds and to contribute to the development of inclusive school cultures and practices.
- Preparing reports, briefings and ministerial correspondence and effective and efficient management of records and where relevant school counselling files.
Selection criteria
- Teaching qualifications and recent school based experience. *
- Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills to facilitate change and build capacity through the delivery of learning and wellbeing service provision.
- High level knowledge of and ability to manage and support students with diverse and complex learning wellbeing needs including school attendance, child protection, disability and cultural identity.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to engage in travel between work sites.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of public education.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policies.
