2010 Lancaster Elementary Parent Involvement Policy
The Lancaster Elementary Title I school wide program encourages each parent to be involved in their child’s education. This policy outlines the parent involvement activities that will be conducted throughout the school year.
- Parents will receive a copy of the Parent Involvement Policy (this document) – which describes the ongoing activities that are held to inform and involve parents in their child’s education.
- Parents will receive a copy of the Lancaster Elementary Title I Compact which is an agreement between home and school outlining everyone’s responsibility for supporting student learning.
- An annual meeting will be held to which all parents are invited. The purpose of this meeting is to inform parents about the Title I school program, discuss with parents the projects and activities carried out with Title I funds, tell parents of their right to collaborate in the design and implementation of Title I projects, and provide parents an opportunity to establish ways for maintaining ongoing communication.
- Title I teachers will be available during the two regular parent-teacher conferences scheduled by the school. Parents of primary students that are part of the Reading First Intervention/Supplemental programs, can conference with Title I teachers to discuss student goals, progress, placement, and instructional methods to enhance their child’s education.
- Materials will be provided along with suggestions to parents to help them promote the education of their children at home. Parents will be encouraged to promote recreational reading at home as a leisure activity for children.
- An annual review meeting of the Title I teachers will be held in the spring to review the year’s success of Title I activities. The committee will plan tentative Title I activities for the upcoming school year.
We invite you to call the school to speak to or schedule a conference with a Title I teacher at any time during the year with any questions/concerns you may have concerning your student(s). It is our goal to enhance the learning experiences of all of our students at Lancaster Elementary through our School Wide Title I program.
