Youth and Community Worker

18hrs per week, permanent contract

Salary: £9.50 per hour/£18,278 pro rata per annum

Place of work: Warndon, KGV and Tolladine Community Centres, with occasional work at other WCT venues as appropriate

Responsible to: Operations Manager

Responsible for: Assistant Youth Workers / Volunteers /Student placements

Purpose of the role:

To work alongside other Youth and Community Workers, Operational Manager and other relevant WCT staff and partners to deliver WCT's youth services.

This will include developing, managing and leading youth and community projects and line management of part time staff and volunteers.

Main tasks:

To:

·  Work directly with young people aged 10-25 years and the wider community to enable their personal development and social education by co-ordinating the provision of needs led positive activities and targeted interventions. This is to include open access and targeted youth and community provision

·  Ensure the development and delivery of a programme of positive activities and services across specified areas within the city so that targets and outcomes set out in the WCT Service Delivery Strategy are met

·  Ensure that staff receive appropriate performance management that will support and enable them to achieve their agreed targets

·  Ensure that partners and other stakeholders across Worcester are engaged with and fully understand the role of WCT in contributing to the achievement of children, young people their families and the wider community

·  Ensure that resources are appropriately deployed to enable adequate delivery of services and activities in areas defined and agreed with the Operations Manager, partners and funders as appropriate

·  Monitor such resources and ensure that budgets are adhered to and regular updates provided as to the success of the deployment of resources against agreed targets

·  Encourage and promote the engagement and participation of children, young people their families and the wider community in work across the city

·  Ensure that management information is gathered appropriately across the district and reported upon as appropriate

·  Ensure that staff are aware of their responsibilities for following WCT policies and procedures and undertaking day to day administration relevant to their position

·  Implement appropriate and robust planning, evaluation, monitoring and reporting tools that will be fed back to senior management, WCT Trustees and funders

·  Ensure that financial guidelines and procedures are understood and adhered to as appropriate

·  Support in writing funding bids to source monies from a number of appropriate avenues

·  Act as an advocate for WCT and work closely with partners organisations

·  Be aware of and adhere to WCT policies and procedures

·  Report safeguarding concerns immediately to line manger

General Duties:

·  Observe WCT procedures and codes of conduct as defined including confidentiality, health and safety at work, data protection

·  Act as a good role model and champion best practice at all times

·  Ensure that you and staff you are responsible for take positive actions to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults you come into contact with, and follow correct WCT policies and procedures around safeguarding appropriate to your level of post

·  To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training

·  To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job
